Okay, the first one? I had to laugh out loud a few times because you are SO animated. I just love you. And I totally agree with you… people need to just deal and not read what they don’t like. It’s as simple as that. 😀
I love you, sweetie, esp. when you rant a good one. I think some people just pick one book up, not like it, and judge an entire range of books on that one book. So not fair.
Jenn hooked me up with your blog – YOU RULE!! How funny was that rant, anyway?
I have read both good and not so good erotica and guess what? When I don’t like some of the erotica, I don’t usually buy from that author again. But I don’t feel it necessary to tar an entire genre with that same brush. Sheesh.
Keep on keeping on, Divine Ms. Dane – you are da bomb!!
My hat (not that I wear one) is off to you. I had to laugh a couple of times in your first rant.
What a novel idea. Don’t buy books you don’t like to read. Whatever will they think up next? Maybe…I don’t know…not trying to stop other people from writing and reading books you don’t like!
I have a problem with people who, as you say, read books they don’t like and then trash them… HUH?
Personally when I read a rant, uh…review, like that I’m inclined to get the darned book. I can make up my own mind… and if I don’t like it then that’s my bad, not the author’s.
*shakes head*
I have to hand it to you Lauren, you did good… and kept your cool far better than I would’ve.
OMG, that was so awesome!! Thin, little plots huh … what an idiot. Nothing but hateration … just let it roll right off of ya because you are fantastic writer!!!
These should come with a *will make you spit pop out* warning. I was cracking up so much I could have ruined a keyboard! And I don’t think my work would have appreciated that.
Loving your live blogs they are great keep them up. Agree completely as usual. Why people want to censor what the rest of us is reading is beyond me. It’s quite simple if you don’t like what the book’s about then don’t read it. But stop bothering the rest of us.
I am the one who has been going around holding a gun to people’s heads and forcing them to purchase and read books that contain swear words and sexual intercourse that may involve unmarried people and sometimes even ([nudity]). I also tear out all the pages in between the sex scenes, hence their failure to recognize a plot. My bad.
It’s the new wave in marketing (manipulating Amazon ratings is so last year). Gotta capture that non-prude demographic by any means necessary.
I laughed. And I agreed. What a shocking proposition – don’t read books you don’t like…
It always does make me wonder, those people who froth at the mouth at things like erotica and porn… how much energy they’re giving it… how they have to visit every single porn site to enrage themselves further…
Saw this link at Jenns. Marvellous! One would think if you don’t like it don’t read it would be quite simple, obviously not. Your live blogs are super cool!

…you made me *snarfle.*
But alas. So true.
Don’t read books you don’t like.
But please stop trying to make me not read (or write) books I DO.

Thank you, I needed that. Great rant. 😀

LOL – you have a cute accent when you rant.
The solution to the problem is pretty simple, as you say. Don’t read what you don’t like. Life is too short.

Huh….all that time wasted reading books she hates and watching porn when she could have been writing. 🙄

If you don’t like the genre, don’t %#&^ read it and then complain about it.

Gee, Lauren, are you annoyed?
Okay, I’m off to write my “thin, little” plots. *wrinkles brow* What the HEY kinda English is that?

Go Lauren! I don’t read horror, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to trash those who do.
Jeez – if you don’t like the genre, don’t buy the book! I believe it’s a simple concept.
But your rant was great! Loved it!
Valerie 😀
