Whew! Week’s End At Last…

And what a week it’s been! Second Chances released on Tuesday and on Wednesday I began to hear feedback and I’m so touched and proud and pleased at the reception. I wanted to write a BDSM book that was about the depth of emotion between partners, writing a story that was more than just flogging and spanking and based on people’s reactions so far, it looks like I was able to do that. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write me and also to write about SC in their blogs and in other places.

A Touch of Fae seems to be doing well also. My sales figures only included one day (as it released on the 31st of August) so I won’t know for sure until the end of next month but the feedback has been really good and I couldn’t be happier that you all responded so well to the Charvez women and I can’t wait to get back to them when I finish up with Cascadia Wolves.

Speaking of Cascadia Wolves, I’m about 10,000 words away from completing it! This one is going to EC, my first werewolf book for them. I’m really pleased with this book and where it’s going and I can’t wait for you all to meet Lex and Nina.

Ah! And to celebrate the release of A Touch of Fae and Second Chances, I’m having a Big Big Autumn contest! The details are at my webpage. Check the “goodies” page but also stop in to see excerpts of my books and other goings on as well.

That’s about it for now! Have a good Friday, everyone.

Lauren

I Know You Want My Goodies

Heh.

New and shiny: Yesterday we made some updates and changes at the website including adding a free Lauren Dane screensaver should you be so motivated to download it. The winners of the Loose Id scavenger hunt are up and tomorrow, at my loop at the Second Chances release party, I’m going to announce a new contest that I’ll be posting at my website later in the day.

Tomorrow is the last day for the Vixenwriter contests so if you haven’t gotten those entries in to me yet, get on it! You must be a subscriber to enter but subscription is easy and free and I won’t pelt you with stuff. You can read the last two issues at the site and the details for the contest are listed at the end of the September issue.

I’m going to be chatting tonight at Writerspace with a bunch of other fun EC authors. It starts at 5 pacific time (8 eastern) so come on by and say hello! It’s a really fun, slightly chaotic hour.

Tomorrow is the big day, Second Chances releases from Loose Id. Look for some new excerpts at my yahoo loop before you can buy it!

Cool Reality…

Some things take getting used to. And hey, it’s not like I’m complaining about that. There are just days when I forget that I’m actually a published writer. I’ll be stumbling along and wham! something happens that jolts me.

I took out some banner ads at TRS. One is the absolutely gorgeous banner that Ann Vremont made for A Touch of Fae (she’s not only a great writer but really talented with graphics too!). Since they were having a cool sale I did three so the others are the very cool banner Scott Carpenter created when he did my cover for Second Chances and one that my husband created for Triad. Anyway, I’m tangenting – the point is that I clicked over to TRS and it was MY banner at the top of the page.

I had one of those moments, then. Warm and surprised and happy and above all, thankful that I’m able to live this dream I’ve had since I was old enough to hold a pencil.

Good reviews are one of those times, too. I’ve gotten a few this week, which is thrilling. It’s so nice when you get the feedback that lets you know that people *get* your book.

I’m blathering, it’s early. But aside from my one year old burning her hands this week, it’s been a good week!

Hey, Dude Check My Star!

Marissa at Novelspot says: “Ms. Dane has proven herself yet again with this, her second book to be published by Ellora’s Cave. I highly suggest that you keep an eye on this new star. I have a feeling she’s going to be around for a long time to come.”

Thank you, Marissa!

Reading…

I have a huge TBR stack and no time to do any “r”ing. I am fortunate enough to be critting/beta reading something for Megan Hart and I swear to you all that this book is gonna kick your butts. It’s so damned good that if it doesn’t get bought there is no justice in the universe.

I have Iron Council (China Mieville) up next and some Mary Janice Davidson, too. I hear there are some good new vampire books out so I’m gonna be checking them out in a bit.

Second Chances releases on Tuesday from Loose Id. Check my yahoo loop for new excerpts.

Whew! Check This Review Out!

Keely at Ecataromance laid five stars on A Touch of Fae! Thank you so much, Keely! She says in part:

A Touch of Fae by Lauren Dane is, well, astounding! I start that bouncing-in-place-in-my-chair-to-hold-in-the-excitement-and-delight at about page five and do not stop until the last page. Before you even think of cracking this one open, plan on a cover to cover read without stopping and have plenty of ice-cold liquids to drink because you are going to be entranced from the first page. The love scenes alone warrant a gallon of icy refreshment to keep you from burning to a crisp. It has been a while since a book caused me to laugh in excitement and joy until the tears run down my face; but, Ms. Dane accomplished that and more with apparent ease.

Ms. Dane has brought her characters to such skillful life that I can “see” them in the room with me as I read. Conchobar is just scrumptiously finger-licking good. (Wonder if he has a single brother that would not mind living in Mid-Western U.S.A.?) Emily is just absolutely lovable with a capital L. All the secondary characters are so real to me that I find myself longing for their stories, especially that sexy fellow faerie warrior Jayce MacTavish. The villains bring me a smile of wicked delight because they are perfectly despicable and deliciously hate-worthy; my favorite kind of villain. I fervently hope we do not have to wait long to join Ms. Dane in her world for another delicious adventure.

And Now For Something Totally Unrelated To Writing

Well, other than my fantasies anyway. I went to see Pearl Jam on 9/1 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Eastern Washington. It was truly an amazing show, probably the best PJ show I’ve ever seen. Anyway, with the download of the official bootlegs they send you pictures from the concert as well so I had to post this one of Ed Vedder, who is looking quite healthy these days. Enjoy the fantasy fodder…

Blather Blather Blather (part three)

I’ve been neck deep in edits for Second Chances but the light is there, just up ahead. The final ms is due on Friday and so my editor and I are moving as quickly as we can. Things are shaping up and I’m quite satisfied with how it’s looking.

Anya Bast, Megan Hart and I are hosting the FAR Chatters board tomrorrow so please come and hang out for part of your day with us. The usual fun stuff, excerpts, prizes and of course, we like to think we’re pretty entertaining as well.

Oh and don’t forget that today, Comstock Films, is donating the ENTIRE purchase price for all DVDs bought and preordered. I reviewed one of their fabulous movies, Xana and Dax not too long ago and I highly recommend them! Your partner will thank you and you’ve done something positive for the victims of Katrina. Oh and he tells me that their ISP is matching and so it’s DOUBLE the purchase price going to relief.

Okay, back to work on Cascadia Wolves now (which, by the way has turned into a menage story, my perverted muse has struck again!)
