Favorites Wednesday – Eileen Wilks

I read the novella that started this world off in a Berkley Sensation anthology (Cravings) many years ago so when I saw Wilks had built on it and written an entire book I was all over it. And then I became a huge fangirl and I’ve read every single book in this series and eagerly await each new installment in this amazingly fresh and imaginative paranormal world.

So today’s book prize is Eileen Wilks’ Tempting Danger, the first book in the series

Lily Yu is a San Diego police detective investigating a series of grisly murders that appear to be the work of a werewolf. To hunt down the killer, she must infiltrate the clans. Only one man can help her–a were named Rule Turner, a prince of the lupi, whose charismatic presence disturbs Lily. Rule has his own reasons for helping the investigation–reasons he doesn’t want to share with Lily. Logic and honor demand she keep her distance, but the attraction between them is immediate and devastating-and beyond human reason. Now, in a race to fend off evil, Lily finds herself in uncharted territory, tested as never before, and at her back a man who she’s not sure she can trust ….

Rule Turner is such an awesome hero. I seriously have mad love for this character and how he treats Lily, who is no slouch herself in the badass department. Despite the paranormal aspect to the story, they’re a very “real” couple with real problems and struggles. I really love that.

And the world? Wow. Seriously amazing worldbuilding by Wilks here. I love that each new installment gives us more about not just the secretive world of the Lupi, but the other parts of this just beneath the surface world as well. Magic, mystery, so much awesome action. I love this book and I can’t wait to share it with one lucky reader chosen from the comments to this post. Good luck. Winner announced in the next Monday Winners Post.

I’m so glad you’re featuring Ms. Wilks and this WONDERFUL series! I already own the book so opt out of the drawing.

I love Rule/Lily and agree with what you said. I do love the fact that Lily is a very straight-laced law enforcer and how she and Rule work around that in certain instances. Love seeing Rule’s son and the interaction with him. Am excited for this next book and how things continue to develop in the battle against “She who must not be named”.

GASP ~ I’ve never read these!
This sounds so good, exactly what I love ~ just sent myself a sample to check out! I’m still amazed as much as I’m out there in the online book world that I still miss awesome series ~ it’s odd how some get SO very much word of mouth, while still others don’t get talked about alot, but if you point blank ask someone they’ll say oh, YEAH, I LOVE that series!

It was very much like that for me w/ Nalini Singh until about 2 yrs ago. I’d heard about her books in passing, but noone had just told me…GO…get these books, you’ll love them. And I gloomed BOTH of her series in marathon of reading & listening.

I guess there are just SO many books/series out there there is no way you’re not going to miss some!

I started this series mid-way through and meant to go back and read the 1st couple I missed, well that got sidetracked somehow. I really like the story line and the characters but I missed how Lily and Rule got together.

She is on my list of authors to explore after I read one of her short stories in an anthology. This sounds like a great series!

Sounds like a good book. I haven’t read this author either but since I am currently reading a book about shifters, it fits in with my current reading theme.

I am interested. I checked it out on Amazon but there wasn’t much info. I am going to have to check it out at Goodreads or the author’s website. It sounds like it has really possiblity.

For all those who haven’t read any of these books, they are a great read! I would encourage you to try this series. Both Lily and Rule are real characters who I just want to know more about. Eileen Wilks is a great writer who tells all of the story.

Please opt me out of the giveaway as I already have this book.

I love her work. I have to go back and read the last book, or sometimes the series every time a new book comes out because otherwise you can’t remember all the great details from the last book. There are very few authors I’m willing to do that for!
