I can still remember reading Naked in Death the first time. I got it from the library and started it while I was waiting for a battery of prenatal tests with my daughter (and oh man what a pregnancy – then again it was because I was on bedrest that I ended up writing a book so) and I read the entire thing that day. I was completely and totally blown away by Eve Dallas and her story, and by Roarke.
To this day I’ve enjoyed every single installment in the In Death series, which says a lot given how many books there are in the series and that the series is about the same couple. I’ve loved watching Eve and Roarke grow to love and trust each other. And the growth of the supporting cast of characters. It’s really one of the best long running series I can think of. (and it was this series that encouraged me to try her Nora books as well)
In a world of danger and deception, she walks the line–between seductive passion and scandalous murder…
Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she’s seen it all–and knows her survival depends on her instincts. And she’s going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire–and a suspect in Eve’s murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it’s up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about–except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.
This blurb really doesn’t begin to give you an idea of how broken Eve is, or of her power and strength. I think it’s through Roarke and the other characters that you truly get to know Eve and respect her. She’s not easy all the time, she’s defensive and prickly and misunderstood.
I love, love, love this book. I’ve read and re-read this book countless times so I figured I’d make it a Favorites Wednesday giveaway to give a lucky winner their chance to fall in love with Eve Dallas too.
Winner chosen from the comments to this post and announced in next Monday’s Winners Post.

Have read everyone of the “In Death” series and have enjoyed them all. It’s fun to read the evolution of Eve and Roarke and their friends.

Love the series and always get the new one when it comes out, the day it comes out…..it’s the only series that my dad, mom, AND myself read. 😉 🙂 🙂 🙂 😉

Please don’t enter me–I own every single installment, up to and including the annual anthologies with the increasingly weird shot stories (don’t get me started…I like to pretend those shorts have nothing to do with the series–and yet, I buy them every year, like clockwork. I’m a sick puppy.)

Love the author but haven’t read this series yet. I think I will have to see how many books are in the series so I can start at the beginning (if you have to read them in order).

I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I have never read any of the J.D. Robb books. I keep hearing how incredible they are and clearly I need to pick one up and read it.

Count me out, because I’ve got them, but it’s true, it is an amazing story!

I have to agree w/ you completely I just love this series. And I can’t believe how long it took me to read this series b/c I think it’s the best. I know I have mentioned this before but me, my daughter and my mom read the series and when we get the latest installment we fight who gets to read it first b/c we all are crazy about this series.

Okay, the only downside of ebooks is that I will forget I bought a book if I don’t read it right away. I bought Naked in Death ages ago but didn’t remember it until now. I’ve just moved it up in the TBR queue.

I, too, have read (an reread) them all. While the stories are great, I sometimes think that the best part of knowing the entire series is getting to know the cast of charactors. The charactor growth really brings the story to life like a color photo compared to a a black and white.

I would HIGHLY recommend reading in order Pamiam due to character development but I am also one of those people who absolutely abhor reading out of order. 😆

Don’t enter me ~ I love and have been following this series since day one. I have been a Nora fan from my teens, and was SO scared when she went the JD Robb name I’d lose one of my fav authors ~ only I gained SO much! I’ve read them all over the years as they came out, but a few years ago I discovered audio books, and bought the then current book in audio ~ LOL, I wound up having to buy EVERY one of them to listen to ~ and even though I’d read them all, it was magic and tragedy and LOL all over again. La Nora has truly created the most amazing heroine in Eve ~ she’s strong, but still has that marshmallow inside, and when she’s scared she just gets more kick ass…and I love how baffled and confused she is that she’s collected all these wonderful and amazing loved ones, especially Roarke. Every book I look forward to a new adventure ~ and love that Nora mixes it up so much so we’re never really sure WHAT to expect!
AWESOME fav, Lauren!!

You don’t need to enter me I just had to respond to this post. You are sooo correct in saying that blurb really didn’t explain how broken Eve truly was. I’m fell in love with Nora Roberts books a long time ago and I was afraid the different alias would just be a different writing style and I wouldn’t enjoy it but man I’m sooo glad I did. Eve and Roarke are two of my favorite couples. I love the dynamics of their relationship and how they just work with each other. I love the depth of their love and how it continues to grow. I love how Roarke still carries her button off the suit she wore the first time they met.

I fell in love with Roarke in this first book; not only did I buy the paperback but a few years ago when it was re-released in Hardcover I bought that too!

I have some JD Robb books on my bookshelves but I never seem to get to them. I would love to win this. It would be a catalyst to start reading!

I have always loved Nora Roberts’ books but have never tried the JD Robb series because I was afraid it would be too different and would sour me on her writing. Now you have convinced me to give this series a try. Can’t wait to start reading!
This is also a great example of being introduced to an author or series by others. I really like to read on blogs what others are reading and why. It makes it easier for me to choose what book is next.

Only a few months ago did I discover the In Death series and although I’m still in the early books of the series I am loving the chemistry between Roarke and Eve. One thing about it taking me so long to read this series is that I have many more adventures in store with these character.

Man, Eve and Raorke. Those Irish blue eyes, that dent in her chin. The fights, the makeup sex. Eve is quite honestly a total badass. She is one of the most well written female characters in fiction. And Raorke, well, what isnt to love about Roarke? Those two take the gold in fictional coupling. I have the books so count me out.

I keep hearing great things about JD Robb’s books, but the sheer amount of them is daunting! As a matter of fact, I just read my first Nora Roberts book earlier this month – The Witness. I can’t believe it only took her writing 200 books for me to finally pick one up. Ha! That book was great, and I guess summer is as good a time as any to get in some extra reading.
