Dang – too many comments mean more competition! 🙂

Currently finished up all 3 books in Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid series on audio. I really enjoyed this series with the male lead (so many of my reads have female leads) and the mix of mythology. The reader did an excellent job and I really enjoyed it.

Also just finished listening to short story from Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels Dark Fantasy series and a book in Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changling series.

I love so many of your series Ms. Dane that you just can’t write fast enough… can you clone yourself to be able to write at least 1 book per series per year? 😀

I enjoyed seeing your Goddess with a Blade in audio and that’s how I “read” it. Would LOVE to see this series in audio with a good reader! I know you have no control over that but… just in case your publisher is watching, thought it couldn’t hurt to throw that in!

Thanks for the opportunity of getting the ARC!

I would love to see more stories with disabled characters and not have them magically heal at the end. Also lesbian stories, I’ve enjoyed many m/m stories and would like to see things from a female perspective.

I read some of everything but I really like paranormal at the moment. I like it because without weirding me out too much like a lot of strict sci-fi does, there is so much more that can be done with an author’s imagination.

To literally not be limited by species or gravity or abilities, etc. is amazing. For the characters to be from other planets, shifters, have cool abilities like psychometry, etc. just opens up so many possibilities for gifted storytellers.

Would love to see more urban fantasy.

I love contemporary romance right now, especially if it has a little (or a lot) of BDSM thrown in 😉 Though I have a feeling that once I start reading Maya Banks’ Highlander series, I will become hooked on historical romance again.

My favorite genre is erotic romance. I belong to Harlequin’s “Contemporary” & “Heartwarming” series’ ( am a sucker for romance). BUT anything with the name “Dane” or “Hart” on them and I AM THERE!! Just got done re-reading the Brown series WAITING for Adrian’s book!! My fav still is “Laid Bare”….I LOVE this book so much that the binding is getting bad and I lost the cover to it!! 🙂 Am currently reading “Good Girls Don’t” by Victoria Dahl….good so far.

    1) What genre are you currently hooked on and do you have any good recs for us?

Right now I’m reading a lot of m/m romance and erotica (Andrew Grey, Josh Landon, T.A. Chase, J.L. Langley, etc.), but just as equally reading urban fantasy. Just finished Downpour by Kat Richardson last night. Anything by Ilona Andrews, Faith Hunter, Kat Richardson, Patricia Briggs, etc. in that genre. And anything by Dana Marie Bell and Moira Rogers too. And read the entire Cascadia Wolves series in 2 days last week 😀

    2) Feel free to ask a question

If you could be a shapeshifter what would your animal be?

    3) What themes/genres would you like to see more of?

I LOVE shapeshifters. I love the hot and spicy shapeshifter series where I get to live vicariously through others. 😀

I have noticed I seem to be reading a lot of romances or erotica books with cowboys or military males. Works for me though because I proudly admit that I am “that” female who loves a man in uniform and the whole tall, dark and sexy thing. Lucky for me my husband is Active duty military, 6’1″ and sexy. Added bonus I get to see him in uniform everyday when he’s not deployed overseas Woot Woot 😉

Hi Lauren – waving from NZ

I’m a Regency and then historical and then paranormal fan but not much separates the three.

I’ve read two great books this year – Lorraine Heath, Waking up with the Duke, and Eloisa James, When Beauty Tamed the Beast.

In terms of a premise, I’m probably going against the grain here but I LOVE damsels in distress books, where the big hunky and very sexy male steps in to save her.

    Hi Lauren

Well genre thats a hard one i am really into a lot but if i had to choose i would say it would be a toss up between paranormal (specifically shape shifter) and erotic romance (specifically those with uniform base) I am obsessed with Maya Bank’s Kelly series, and i really enjoy yours, Rebecca Royce, Moira Rogers, Trinity Blacio, lora Leigh, Shiloh Walker and Marisa Chenery’s, paranormal series (all of them are really good and i just couldn’t single out a specific title i have all of them on auto download/preorder from amazon the moment a new title becomes available)

Well you said we could as a question so here goes:

I am sure that being an author and co writing with other authors you have a lot of access to books to so are there any must reads from your end?

I LOVE a great contemporary romance. I just read Changing the Game by Jaci Burton, and Saddled and Spurred by Lorelei James and loved them both immensely. I also love Jill Shalvis’ contemps, and of course yours 😉

Now that the Brown Siblings have gone through all of the brothers and sisters will you be doing books for secondary characters, or will you be starting a new series?

What would I like to see more of Cowboy/Western heroes, I can’t get enough of them no matter the time period. And I also would love to see more everyday heroes in both historical and contemporary romances. Not every hero needs to be ex-military, firefighter, or cop.

    1) What genre are you currently hooked on and do you have any good recs for us?

Lately, I have been reading the chick lit romance novels like Changing the Game by JB, a certain Mageverse series, Elder Race, Too Hot to Touch by LE, and First Grave on the Right by DJ which was awesomely funny 😆 😆 😆

    2) Feel free to ask a question

Who is the stinker who decides when to put an Ebook in print??? There are some of us who like real books and not another computer 😈 👿 which makes the entertainment feel like work.

    3) What themes/genres would you like to see more of?

Honestly I am kinda tired of the heroine in danger, ooohhh let the hero save her. I would REALLY like to see more kick butt female don’t take abuse OF ANY KIND from her supposed soul mate – yeah people make mistakes (case in point Changing the Game by JB) but don’t expect me to stick around and take more from you….. 😕 yeah there is forgiveness but take you back on the next page………NOT

My current addiction is urban fantasy and series. I am hooked on Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series and cannot get enough of her hero, BONES.
But for the most part, as long as the story has captivating characters with a deep emotional connection-then I will read it.
My question for Lauren is this–
Do you plan to write another story with the character from Second Chances–I can’t remember the friend’s name, but he was a Dom that Jude knew and met again near the end of the book. I would love to see him get an HEA. Thanks 😎

    1. Erotica, I have just finished Tempting Seals by Lora Leigh and was pleasantly surprised, alot of erotica series tend not to have a strong story and this did.
    2. It always amazes me how writers can write a mulitude of books from different series and not have them all mirror each other. So my questions is how do you prevent that from happening?
    3. I would love to see more of paranormal romance/erotica series with a solid story line and stong characters. I love series that even through all the sex the unlying connections are family and friends….. I love that.

Like Leah Braemel or Vivian Arend.

I tend to move from genre to genre so I’m not really hooked on one specifically right now. I am in love, however, with a new (to me) author who has 3 books out right now and I’ve heard there is at least one more (cue happy dancing!!!). The books are classified as Urban Fantasy (I think) …

    Hounded
    Hexed and
    Hammered by Kevin Hearne.

    Love love LOVE these books!

I was off historicals for many years but lately I’ve been reading Michelle Willingham and she’s been hitting home. Emotional stories, good storylines, GREAT characters, I highly recommend. I like to take my romances for when they were published.

I don’t have a question, but the combination of reading your books set in the Pacific NW, and my friends who are from there raving about it, so when the opportunity arose to visit Seattle, I took it quickly! So I’ll be there in Oct. Can we meet? J/K

I would give my left toe for more contemporary books. Maybe it’s the blogs I read but we’re drowning in historicals and they have a limited appeal for me.

    1) What genre are you currently hooked on and do you have any good recs for us?
-I actually just finished Jaci Burton’s new book (Changing the Game) and I really liked it! For the past few months I have really been enjoying contemp’s that revolve around sports.

    2) Feel free to ask a question
-Do you have any plans to create a new series in print? If so, what will the series be about? Anything like the Brown books?

    3) What themes/genres would you like to see more of?
I really enjoy reading about families, and I love when the characters in the books I read are really flushed out and have depth – these stories become more real to me!

    2) I love your playlists for the Brown Siblings series. Are you going to do one for Never Enough or any of your other series?

    3) I would like to see more contemporary romance where the hero/ heroine is disabled in some way not caused by war (wheelchair, deaf, “slow”, etc.). I like my characters flawed- it gives me hope 😀

I’ve been really hooked on romance and paranormal romance lately. Reading anything and everything I can get my hands on.

Question I have for most authors- I’m always curious where a person writes…. do they have a sacred space that is dedicated for their work or just anywhere the mood hits them?

  42. Jackie (Literary Escapism)
    August 4th, 2011 at 8:10 pm · Link

So I’m thinking there’s no chance I’m winning this, but hey, I’m a glutton for punishment. *grin*

    1) I’m perpetually stuck in the UF/PNR genre. There are times reality simply sucks and since I read to get away from it, I really don’t want to read anything except what cannot actually happen. *grin*

Some good recs are probably ones everyone is already reading. But in case they’re not (and why not!?) they would be:
    * Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews
    * Alex Craft by Kalayna Price
    * Sabina Kane by Jaye Wells
    * Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost

    2) A question huh…Okay, will there be any more Brown Sibligns novels or is this it? After all, all the siblings (plus Ben’s) have now had a book, so who’s left? I know I haven’t read Cope’s book yet (I’m getting to it, I swear), but I haven’t missed someone, right? There was Erin, Brody, Cope (Ben’s brother) and now Adrians.

    3) I’m a sucker for a good fairy tale rewrite. I know it seems like it’s the latest trend, but I want to see more of the non-popular fairy tales get told. And they don’t necessarily have to be retold, but can just include those characters. I love SyFy’s TINMAN, which was a new spin on the Wizard of Oz, and ALICE, which gave a great look on Alice in Wonderland.

    1) What genre are you currently hooked on and do you have any good recs for us? I love steampunk. I think Gail Carriger is amazing.
    2) Feel free to ask a question. What book in on your permanent keeper shelf? For me I was blown away by Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel series.
    3) What themes/genres would you like to see more of? This is a tough question. I read a little bit of a lot of different genres. I guess what I would like to see more of is intelligent characters having real emotions. Not every romance has to be all speed and no substance. I guess what I think needs to be better represented is the HFN instead of the HEA. Let’s face it, breakups happen. Even in romance!

I’m usually a straight scifi/fantasy reader, but lately I’m all about the romance/smut/erotica novels. Especially if there is that hint of paranormal. I would definitely suggest checking out Seleste Delaney’s Of Course I Try, and E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey.

I am currently addicted to paranormal romances. I try to branch out but paranormal romance will always be my number 1.

As for recommendations, I have few.
1.JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Main characters are vampires. Has a love story and some violence. The thing with Mrs Ward’s books are where most authors in this genre will cut most of the love scene, she does not. So if you like erotica I recommend this series. It is not classified as erotica but in most scenes it comes pretty close
2.Jeanine Frost’s Night Huntress series. I recommend One foot in the Grave Chapter 32 😉
3.Lora Leigh’s The Breeds series. That is some hot stuff.
