Laid Bare with Flair Day 31!

The last day before the grand prize winner is announced!!

Today’s prize is Jess Granger’s Beyond The Rain! Jess is one of my fellow Bradford Babes and I was lucky enough to hang with her this year at National. She’s just as lovely in person!

Blurb: In a universe torn apart by civil war, a warrior and a slave must fight for their lives and a love that may destroy them both.

After five years behind enemy lines, Captain Cyani has to complete one final mission before she can return to Azra—a planet ruled by a sisterhood of celibate warriors. Along the way she finds a prisoner, chained and beaten—but radiating feral power and an unbroken spirit.

For years Soren has endured torture as his captors leeched his very essence, a unique hormone then sold as a sexual narcotic in the shadow trade. Now he has been freed from slavery by a beautiful warrior woman with radiant blue eyes.

After years in bondage, Soren’s hormones are so unbalanced that he will die if he does not mate with a woman. Can Cyani be the woman he needs to survive, or will this forbidden bond destroy them?

Sounds awesome, no? You can head to Jess’ website to read an excerpt as well. There’s really never been a better time to try out a futuristic romance if you haven’t yet! There are so many great books out now or that will be out soon – makes me very happy!

TODAY’S QUESTION: What sort of cover draws your eye? What do you hate to see on covers?

I’ll choose a winner tomorrow afternoon from the comments! Good luck!

I love this cover cuz we get to see his face! I’d like to see more of the face, instead of chopping off the head and just showing the chest. I too love seeing a couple on a cover. I don’t care for the cartoonish covers. Sometimes hard for me to see them on a romance book. I love too how they put the whole heroine on your books too lauren

Don’t enter me, I just want to ask a question. Can we ask Jess if this will be available in ebook format? I want. You know me and futuristics, Lauren…

Angie, I’ll ask her. I know she’s moving this week so she may not be around much. Usually though, Berkley does digital too. with Undercover, the digital book didn’t show up until a few days later, but I noticed Laid Bare digital for pre-order. Hopefully that’ll be the case.

I prefer real people on my covers – beautiful, hot, sexy men & women. I want a little skin, satin, lace, leather. I WANT to be able to judge the book by its cover.

I like a variety of covers. The only ones that I really dislike are the cartoonish/unrealistic covers. Charlene Harris is one that comes to mind.

I love all kinds of covers. I don’t really care for the computer generated ones either. I kind of like them to matxh what’s in the book or differant authors like Janet Evanovich seems to have bright colors which go with hers. And some authors have darker covers~depends on the book.

Hate the computer gen covers. I love covers that are out of the ordinary and edgy.

I love covers with hot men with tattoos or women with tattoos but I don’t buy a book for it’s cover

Darker covers really draw my eye. I don’t know why. But I would more then likely pick up a darker covered book then one with sparkles or bright colors.

But nothing rreally turns me off that would be on a cover. Nothing I can think of, anyway….

    The book sounds amazing!

Covers don’t really matter to me much. I don’t like garish colors (subjective, I know) like hot pink or neon aquamarine or cartoon looking characters on a cover. When I browse the isles I’m scanning titles and author names first and foremost. A title catches my eye, then the blurb, then the cover.

I don’t like cover art that is too busy. I’m more with the school of less is more.

personally for me i love all sorts of coveres scenery people half nakied fully dressed all that matters is if it fits the title i do how ever hate the few covers that really have no real balance or sembalance of what the story is about

Usually a cover with a really hot guy but I prefer not to have a face to go with the body. I also love the covers for Laid Bare and Vegas afterdark. They had very nice covers.

One of my favorite covers I’ve seen so far is an upcoming Xmas anthology that has Anya Bast and Lora Leigh in it. The guy on the front has very nice abs, very low cut jeans and a candy cane ummm very strategically placed. The book is Hot for the Holidays.

If it is a book by a favorite author, the cover augments the desire for the book.

I like enticing covers that titillate the imagination.

I do not like funny covers.

I like real people on the covers. It can be sexy men or women and I like them a bit sexy.

I am not a real big fan of cartoonish covers…although, there are some exceptions.

Unlike many of my female counterparts, I’m more attracted to a smokin’ hot woman on the cover than a cut hunka-hunka man-love. I prefer shades of pink, red, purple, blue, or very dark, gritty covers with dynamic depictions and am even okay with “the clinch” nine times out of ten. I also like stylized illustrations or “comic book”ish covers.

I like cover to have good looking male or female or both on it.not some thing boring like a Field or some trees or just butterfly going a cross it that does not do it for me.

I hate CG covers, or bad artist renditions (like older EC covers) Yours have been fabulous and exactly the types of covers I love.

Another that comes to mind is the cover for Deeper by Megan Hart. I think that is my fav cover so far this year. It’s sexy, and beautiful, and once you read the book you see how absolutely perfect the cover is.

I like covers that show something about the story without giving anything away. One of my favorite covers is the covers for Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series and how the glyphs are on there and how the glyphs relate in the story. Some of my favorite authors who have covers I love are Lora Leigh, Christine Feehan, Jory Strong and You!

I don’t like the cartoonish or drawn covers like the traditional romance books have. I also don’t like the women kneeling in front grasping at the guys’ legs. I do love seeing a guy on the front but some stories are perfect having just a picture of a woman on the cover. I also love colorful but sometimes that can be just one color with the rest in gray scale (like Larissa Ione’s books).

I love to see skin on a cover, but not too much and I really dislike the computer generated models – especially when the proportions are off! LOL

I enjoy covers that are colorful. As for ones I don’t like that would be ones that look dated even if they are brand new. I don’t mind period ones but sometimes they look very dates.

I like a cover that reflects what the story is about or has a simple eye catching motif. Mind you I also like the buff guy or the couple entwined ones .

What I hate is covers that bear no resemblence to what the story is about or have cartoony childish covers for adult books.
