I couldn’t announce it before I left but I can now – UNDERCOVER won the RT Reviewer’s Choice award for Erotic Paranormal/Futuristic! I have a beautiful award I’ll be hanging up in my little office type corner. I can’t tell you all how totally honored I am. The other authors in the category are some of the authors I admire most in the genre so I was in very good company.
Of course, when I went up to speak, I totally started crying, like whoa blubbering, but it was a huge moment for me. At my first RT in Houston, I went to the awards and said, “I hope I can be up there one of these days.” So to have my first NY single title be nominated and then to win was very emotional for me. There are times when I’ve felt like I’d never sell and to have come so far in these last two years – well it still makes me tear up. I barely got out my thanks to Laura Bradford, my wonderful agent and friend and to Megan Hart for being such a wonderful friend, I’m so very lucky to have them in my life. I had other people to mention (Anya Bast, Renee Meyer, Leis Pederson and my husband) but truly, I was such a mess I just backed away from the microphone and got off the stage. Gah! to crying! But it was genuine – I’m so very grateful for everything I’ve achieved in these last four years since my first book came out. Being at RT with my friends, who are winning awards and are growing such wonderful careers. In truth, there were many very emotional moments this year and I’m so proud of my friends and to be a part of the romance community.
