Today’s book of the day is: Elisabeth Naughton’s Stolen Fury!
To unearth a centuries-old secret, an archaeologist must team up with the rakish thief who’s stolen both an ancient relic and her heart…
Oh, is he handsome. And charming. And sexy as all get out. Dr. Lisa Maxwell isn’t the type to go home with a guy she barely knows. But, hey, this is Italy and the red-blooded Rafe Sullivan seems much more enticing than cataloging a bunch of dusty artifacts.
After being fully seduced, Lisa wakes to an empty bed and, worse yet, an empty safe. She’s staked her career as an archaeologist on collecting the three Furies, a priceless set of ancient Greek reliefs. Now the one she had is gone. But Lisa won’t just get mad. She’ll get even.
She tracks Rafe to Florida, and finds the sparks between them blaze hotter than the Miami sun. He may still have her relic, but he’ll never find all three without her. And they’re not the only ones on the hunt. To beat the other treasure seekers, they’ll have to partner up—because suddenly Lisa and Rafe are in a race just to stay alive.
You can read an excerpt at Elisabeth’s website!. I can tell you I loved this book. Eli has a great voice and the story had plenty of adventure and heat between Rafe and Lisa. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it and to pre-order the next book in the series, Stolen Fury.
Today’s Question: What was the first romance novel you ever read?
Winners will be announced tomorrow (April 23) in the evening – I’ll be out and about all day and I want to give folks a chance to enter for a few more hours so I’ll draw when I return to the hotel in the evening! Winners have seven days to claim their prize, after that time, I’ll redraw for a new winner. Good luck!!

I wish I could remember, but I am such an avid reader, I’ve read hundreds of books that I can’t recall the titles to! I do believe it was a Harlequin romance, though.

*NOTE: Please don’t enter me in the contest as I already own a copy of STOLEN FURY. (I still wanted to answer the question).
I honestly can’t remember the very first romance I read and I know there were romance novels before the one I consciously think of as “My First Romance Novel.” Seeing as I can’t recall the first and that I was one of those snooty, arrogant “I don’t read [voice colored with extreme disgust]those kinds of books. [/end extreme disgust] before illumination dawned and I realized (somewhere around age 19 or 20) my current read was indeed a romance. (BEYOND EDEN by Catherine Coulter–one that, to this day, lends itself to fond recollections of not only the pleasure I took in the book itself, but the scattered, confused person I was at the time).
So that would be my first (recognized) romance novel: Beyond Eden by Catherine Coulter.

Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander. I don’t think it is classified by some as a romance, but I think it is.
One of the first true romance genre books I remember reading was Betrice Small’s Skye O’Malley series. I read some of them out of order, so I don’t remember which of them I read first, but her heroes and heroines always go through alot before you get to the HEA.

I can’t remember what the first one was – I went through my first bout of romance reading when I was 20, which was a few years ago. *ahem*

Err.. is Clan of the Cave Bear even remotely romantic? LOL… I read that many times in high school, then moved out where my mum wouldn’t give me grief and started buying up all the Harlequins at the grocery store. 🙂

It was a swiped copy of my mom’s “Thorn Birds” when I was 13. Talking about diving in head first!

I don’t remember the name but I remember the cover. This red-blond woman on a bed and this sheik next to her. And that was what it was about, she met a sheik, huge passion but could it last. My first Harlequin, my first trip into grown up land

Oh, blimey! that was two centuries ago, Laur, can’t remember it anymore. But I can tell you my favoritest romance author:grin:. She goes by the initial of LD!

Unfortunately, I don’t remember the title but I know it was by author Emilie Loring. I was very young (about 12 years old) and was so impressed with her books that I owned all of them and read and reread them until the books were ragged (paperbacks, of course, who could afford hardback at that young age?) Although she is(was?) a good author, I’ve certainly matured in my tastes and now prefer some SPICE in my reading material.

The only thing that comes to mind is “Gone With The Wind”. I was in 11th grade and read it for a book report. I’ve slept, drank, and partied just a few too many times to remember anything else over 20 years ago. LOL Have a great day.

Since it left such a huge mark in my psyche (some might call it a scar 😉 ) I remember it very clearly. I was eleven and the book was The Sheik by E.M.Hull.
While I’ve grown away from the rapist heroes and the Stockholm syndrome heroines, I still have that original copy–four moves and three countries later.

When I was 10, I read Little Women. Not really a romance, but there was romance in it. The first “real” romance I read was when I got into my mom’s books and read a historical romance before she got home from work each day. I’ve been hooked ever since!

Oh….I remember…I was in highschool, bored out of my mind during a summer afternoon, and my mom was tired of me doing nothing. So, she turned me onto the world of romance starting with Sweet Savage Love by Rosemary Rogers. Of course, everyone was handsome, beautiful, rich, and exuded tons of sensuality.

Two ‘big’ worthy romances I read (and I was maybe 14 years old at the time) was The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen Woodweiss and Sweet Savage Love by Rosemary Rogers (1974!). At the same time I went to the local dime store and purchased all of the Harlequin Romances as soon as they came out. I was never without a book.

I have this book! But still love to chat here!
I read alot of my mom’s series books and used to visit her room each nite to pick one out. Its hard for me to remember but I too remember alot of Victoria Holt who wrote Gothic Romance! I used to try to find every book of hers by going to library to library until I found them all and crossed them off on a checklist! They now re-releasing them. Maybe time for re-read. Its been so long. I recently started to re-read Pride & Prejudice because I want to read the sequels by some authors and since I started its all coming back to me. Its great to re-read but I get behind again, LOL

The first adult romance I remember reading was Golden Fancy by Jennifer Blake…I remember this because I had to sneak it from my aunt while I was visiting during the summer.
I have always been a romance girl…although, I have read lots of different things…I used to spend my allowance on the Sweet Dream Romances which included the amazing titles of P.S. I Love You, The Trouble With Charlie, and Te Amo Means I Love You. Yes, I know that this makes me old…I just turned 40 on Monday.
You do not need to enter me…as I already have a copy of Stolen Fury. I just had to answer this one.
