Today’s prizes come from Vivi Anna – one of my favorite people who also happens to be a fabulous writer! She’s donating a digital book download of her brand new, out today Samhain release – Demon Dreamer and a pair of Barefoot Sandals (her heroine loves going barefoot!)

Blurb:
Submission is the only path to his salvation…
A Captive Souls story.
Born a seer, Kiara Brodie has always been feared for her power to see others’ fantasies. She’s fine with that—it keeps the men of her Irish Gypsy caravan at bay. She wants more than this transient life. A letter from her estranged father, summoning her to Louisiana, could be her long-awaited chance to put down roots.
She finds two half-sisters she never knew she had, and an old mansion haunted by a darkly sexy demon who inhabits her dreams. At night he whispers to her of carnal delight, enticing her on a journey of extreme pleasure—and pain.
Malvo knows just what to do with the curious woman who wandered into his lair behind the library bookcase—lock the door behind her and make her a lustful proposition she can’t refuse. He seeks to temporarily ease his lonely torment, but Kiara’s willing and wanton response opens his eyes to the possibility that she is his path to his own salvation.
If only she is willing to remain captive to his every sinful desire—forever…
Today’s Question: Do you like a hero or heroine with tattoos? Why or why not? Have any favorites?
I’ll choose a winner tomorrow but keep in mind I’m at RWA National so my schedule may be a bit off this week. The winner has three days to claim the prizes or I’ll re-draw! Good luck everyone!

Those are the cutest sandals ever!
Tattoos are sexy. Period. Love heroes with tattoos, heroines too. Like Lara Adrian’s Breeds where the tattoo changes according to emotion. Hot!
by Joy Roach July 14th, 2009 at 4:04 amI like tatooes. Heroes, heroines,.. it doesn’t matter whose tatooes we’re talking about, it’s the kind of tatoo that counts.
by Teresa July 14th, 2009 at 4:37 amGood Morning Lauren:
I love tattoos. I want one, but am chicken. lol
I like unusual ones that are creative. An art form really. I love the dermaglyphs that are inherent to Larissa’s seminus demons in her “Demonica” series. They just rock!
Thank you,
by Lea July 14th, 2009 at 4:42 amVivi Ana
Great prize!
Love tattoos on either! I’m also a chicken about getting one for myself.
First herione I thought of was Mercy Thompson with her coyote paw print on her belly button. Hero, well, there are so many. How about Lara Adrian’s Midnight bread?
I love the cover of Dream Dreamer!!!
by Donna (Fantasy Dreamer) July 14th, 2009 at 4:50 amDo you like a hero or heroine with tattoos? Why or why not? Have any favorites?
I like tattoo’s on a hero and heroine as long as the author makes it one or two good ones, not the whole body covered. I think the best tattoo an author has used is by L.a Banks for her character Damali in the Vampire Huntress series.
by Zarifina July 14th, 2009 at 4:50 amLove tatoos! They can tell you so much about a person. It’s personal artwork.
by Mare Fairchild July 14th, 2009 at 5:04 amWell, I know I love the tattoo on the cover of this book! Yum. :)
I do like reading about tattoos on characters – but then the cover art should reflect the actual tattoos! The worst I can think of are the Mercy Thompson books – she has a single paw print tattoo on her stomach, yet on the covers, she’s practically the tattooed woman.
by Chris July 14th, 2009 at 5:07 amI like tattoos, within reason. Not to be shallow, but you have to have the bod for them — a pasty-white beanpole sporting a dagger tattoo just seems out of place. Put that same tattoo on a muscled, physical guy? Get outta my way or I’m knocking you down.
Also, I like “badass” tattoos more than cutesy ones. I know a guy who, I kid you not, has the Tasmanian Devil tattooed on his calf. “Looney Tunes, seriously?” was all I could think when he showed me, though I eked out something more complimentary out loud.
by JP July 14th, 2009 at 5:25 amI like tatoos if they are well done. They aren’t a necessity, but they are nice.
by Melissa Conatser July 14th, 2009 at 5:32 amLove tattoos, have one (yes, it hurt like hell, but I’m a weenie when it comes to pain, so?)
Not a have to…but depending upon how the character is written, can be HOT plus!!!
And Holy Moly…Vivi Anna’s book sounds fantastic!! (adding to my list to pick up tomorrow)
:)
by Dana July 14th, 2009 at 6:24 amI love tattoos too! I’ve seen some really sexy guys with tattoos lately!
My daughter is trying to talk me into getting a Mom/Daughter tattoo….something small but special between her and I but I’m a chicken!
by Blanche July 14th, 2009 at 6:33 amI like tatoos. My husband and I both have tatoos and we plan to get more. I think a tatoo sleeved arm is sexy on a man. So I like a hero or heroine with a tatoo so long as it’s not something silly.
by jennifer cecil July 14th, 2009 at 6:46 amI love tattoos. I want one, and I’ve been thinking about getting one like butterfly or some symbol but I am afraid I’ll catch some disease
Love when heroes in particular have tattoos that mean something.
by Frana July 14th, 2009 at 6:48 amI like tasteful tatoos. Art in any form can enhance someones looks.
by Christina Mays July 14th, 2009 at 6:50 amLove tattoos! I like them on a sexy part of the heroine…to drive the man crazy of course. Maybe on the hip, or pelvic region. On the man, around the arm. I like them because I think that they add sex appeal. Make the man stronger. I like it on the woman because generally if they are not all over the body, but in one little hidden spot, it drives their man crazy, in a good way!
Thanks-
by Amy Mowers July 14th, 2009 at 7:03 amamy m
I find them sexy. But Idon’t like someone to be tatooed over their entire body. For me that’s a bit over the top.
by Christine July 14th, 2009 at 7:09 amI love tattoos, they are so sexy! But not in abundance! But I don’t think I’ll have the courage to do one myself! I’m a wimp when it comes to pain!
by Tamsyn T. July 14th, 2009 at 7:10 amI love tattoos! I think they can be very sexy. Some of my favorites are Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld, Larissa Ione’s Demonica demons, and Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson.
by Lori T July 14th, 2009 at 7:11 amI so want this book. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Delilah Devlin has been posting excerpts of all 3 of the series on her blogs.
I love a hero/heroine with tats. I think they are sexy if done right. I don’t nesecessarily want them covered in tats but 1 or 2 I like.
I finally broke down and got 1 for my 40th bday last year and this year I got another one to celebrate my new granddaughter. I want to go back and add a little more to my 1st one now. They are addictive.
by Heather Brewer July 14th, 2009 at 7:12 amFirst, the sandals are just too cute.
About tattoos, I love them. I have 2 and my hubby has almost 20. I love it when my heros and heroines are covered. Have a great day.
by Roberta Harwell July 14th, 2009 at 7:18 amHm… I’m personally not big on tattoos, and I have to say I prefer them on men. Women’s tattoos are well, kinda froufrou it seems, generally. And I’m so sick of the tramp stamp :X I think the male equivalent is becoming a “tribal band” – really? So much for being unique and getting the tattoo…
by limecello July 14th, 2009 at 7:22 amBut markings that have meaning – something like that, I do like on characters.
Also – those barefoot sandals are so neat! I’ve never heard of/seen them before!
I’m not a fan of tattoos, even though I’ve seen some great works of body art. I prefer them on male characters, but just one which has meaning to the character.
My sister, like Heather above, mentions that they’re addictive (she has seven).
Has anyone seen the complete upper arm tattoo on Julio Iglesias, Jr.? It looks great on tv.
by Anne July 14th, 2009 at 7:33 amI like sparse or sporadic tattoos. Sleeves or entire upper body covered in tats does not appeal to me, i like to see skin on men. On women a couple are good for me, but same thing, do not want all over, it is too much.
by Kris July 14th, 2009 at 8:22 amThank you to Lauren for hosting me today! Wheeeeeeeeeee!
Thanks ladies for coming out and commenting.
I love tattoos. I have a few myself. One is never enough. :-)
by Vivi Anna July 14th, 2009 at 8:48 amOh, gorgeous cover, Vivi!!
by Melissa July 14th, 2009 at 9:08 amI like tats on my hero….I think they’re sexy when they mean something.
On the heroine, it depends…where are they? Why are they??
I love the arm band tats on both hero/heroine.
I do like reading about/looking at other people’s tattoos since I am too chicken to get my own!
by Amy Kathryn July 14th, 2009 at 10:00 amI don’t mind a tattoo on my hero/heroine as long as it has a purpose for them. The tattoo I’m most familiar with is Karen Chance’s heroine Cassie tattoo, the pentagram.
I am in love with the barefoot sandals, gorgeous!
by Alex D July 14th, 2009 at 10:16 amTatooes are nice (as long as they are small
)
by Suzana July 14th, 2009 at 11:23 amI like characters with tatoos, because they make the characters even more dangerous and hot. Lara Adrian’s chracters have some amazing description of tatoos.
by Jeanette Juan July 14th, 2009 at 11:30 amWhat gorgeous sandals. I love tattoos. My husband has 8.
by Crystal B. July 14th, 2009 at 11:39 amTattoos don’t bother me one bit. It’s better for me if the tattoo means something for that person if theres a reason behind it.
by Lexee July 14th, 2009 at 11:44 amlexeetoste at sbcglobal.net
I like if they have one or two. I don’t like a body full. I like that they usually mean something to the person who gets one. celtic crosses are my fav on men.
by Sue Brandes July 14th, 2009 at 11:51 amI like tattoos (have two of my own) and think they are great on hero or heroine.
My favourite is Larissa Ione’s use of tattoos to denote heritage in her demon heroes :D
by Ilona July 14th, 2009 at 11:59 amIm a tatoo freak i love them in books on people i know seen in magazines i think if a hero or heroine have them makes the discription of them all the better and the story have more flare then with out
by Beverly G. July 14th, 2009 at 12:23 pmI am too conservative for a tattoo, but I love them on some guys, especially tribal bands – hot, very hot! As for characters, I like Lara Adrian’s Breeds and the way they change color with their emotions, same with J.R. Ward’s Brotherhood. There is also something pretty cool about Larissa Ione’s brothers in the Demonica series and how their tattoos not only appear and disappear as they mature but change to reflect the cycles in their life.
by Mickey M (m-square) July 14th, 2009 at 12:42 pmI like tattoos that are usually hidden by clothes. You only get to see them if someone decides to show them to you.
by Jane July 14th, 2009 at 12:46 pmDo not like tattoos at all!! On the book covers they look great sometimes, but they are not real people and you are trying to accent and make them sexy looking.
by Judy Cox July 14th, 2009 at 12:53 pmI like them better on a character in a book. I think if they mean something instead of a night of drunken fun, they are much nicer.
by Lisa J July 14th, 2009 at 1:04 pmLove this cover. I like some tatoos for heroes, can add to their dangerous allure, all depends on the tat and if not overdone.
Me, I’m too chicken to endure all that pain.
by Pam P July 14th, 2009 at 1:05 pmI love looking at tattoos but I’m too chicken to have one myself, they are sexy!
by Diane Sadler July 14th, 2009 at 1:20 pmI love the cover of this book and I have never seen barefoot sandals before, they are beautiful!!!
I love tattoos and find they can be very sexy. I like celtic symbols over the shoulder or over thi hip on guys.
Or I like floral patterns up over the foot and up the ankle for girls, or over the shoulder towards the breast.
Unfortunately, my hubby won’t let me have a tattoo, or else I’d get one right away.
by Valerie July 14th, 2009 at 1:58 pmI do not like tattoos, but I can see how others may find them sexy.
by Tracy July 14th, 2009 at 2:08 pmi like tattoos on other people! and that book looks good too
by r July 14th, 2009 at 2:32 pmHuge fan of tattoos, but I fear I waited too long to get one of my own – seeing as I know have diabetes & don’t heal as easily or fully as I once did. My favorite tattooed characters include Nick Gautier (Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters), any of Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld, and Grace Quintero (Charles De Lint’s THE MYSTERY OF GRACE).
by catie james July 14th, 2009 at 3:02 pmI love heroes with tattoos. Don’t mind when a heroine has one.
by Calila July 14th, 2009 at 3:11 pmI usually like the ones described in many of the books. The ones generally seen on actually people are usually ugly. You always have to think, what are these going to look like when I’m in the nursing home.
by Anne July 14th, 2009 at 3:16 pmTattoos just are not for me! I saw the word
tasteful used in connection with inks and I
had to laugh. In my mind, they just do not
go together. As I said this is just me, what
others do is their own business!
Pat Cochran
by Pat Cochran July 14th, 2009 at 3:17 pmSure tattoos are cool. They help describe a character really good and it also helps with the descriptions.
by MichelleK July 14th, 2009 at 3:21 pmInterestingly enough my favorite tats are on females.
I love the tat that Sera had in Lauren Danes’ “Undercover” and I also loved the tat that Emily Greene had in Cherry Adair’s “White Heat”.
I like one or two tatoos if they are well doneon either a hero or heroine. The one on the cover is nice. Like the sandals also.
by Gloria T. July 14th, 2009 at 3:30 pmI’m not a fan of tattoos. I don’t mind looking at them as long as the design is something unique.
I’m currently reading Darkness Calls by Marjorie M. Liu and the tattoos of Maxine Kiss come off at night to help her fight demons. I really enjoy Marjorie’s books.
by Amelia July 14th, 2009 at 3:46 pmI don’t mind heroes or heroines with tattoos, although I have no plans to get any myself :)
by Fedora July 14th, 2009 at 3:51 pmIt doesn’t really matter to me whether or not they have tatoos. My favorites are the graphs in Lara Adrian’s Midnight breed series
by Lilly M. July 14th, 2009 at 3:58 pmI have no problems with tatoos on heros or heroines. I like tatoos and find them pretty sexy. A couple of my favorite tatoos in books are: the tatoos in the Ghostwalker series by Christine Feehan, I love how you have to have special vision in order to see them. I also love the tatoos or glyphs in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian and how they pulse and change color depending on a breeds mood.
by Heather F. July 14th, 2009 at 4:16 pmI love Tattoos period so I’m all for it when they are on a hero or heroine
by Jessie July 14th, 2009 at 4:35 pmI like it! I think tattoos are very sexy.
by Marjana Kaly July 14th, 2009 at 4:42 pmIt seems like most covers (especially paranormals) have heroes with superimposed tattoos these days so I feel like it is a bit overdone. I do like it when the tattoo does something or turns into something or has some other reason for being there.
by MichelleK July 14th, 2009 at 4:53 pmI love h/h with tattoos. Not all over the body tho.
by Estella July 14th, 2009 at 5:03 pmI love tattoo’s on a hero or heroine. I think my fave is the tattoo’s on Larissa Ione’s Demonica series.
by Lisa F. July 14th, 2009 at 5:11 pmIt really depends on the tattoo and where the tattoo is located. I have seen some that are wonderful and sexy but others left me cold.
by Little Lamb Lost July 14th, 2009 at 5:57 pmI love tattoos. They are such a great form of expression. You can learn a lot from someone’s tattoos :D
by Natasha A. July 14th, 2009 at 6:00 pmOff hand….hmmm…
Mercy Thompson
and I know there are others but I am brain dead and sick so I will have to think of it later….lol
I’m fairly ambivalent about tattoos. If a hero or heroine has one, that’s cool, as long as it fits with their personality. I definitely think a tattoo can be attractive and have enjoyed the descriptions of a few of them on some heroes I’ve read in the past.
by Karin July 14th, 2009 at 6:33 pmI freaking love it when I come across book characters with tatts. But I am incredibly biased, as I am looking to get my third tatt soon.
In some aspects I am actually a put off it when some heros don’t have them. They are supposed to be these rough and tumble characters, ex-military etc, and there is no tatts? I know it is a bit of a generalisation, but from my experience, that can really throw me..
by Edie July 14th, 2009 at 6:40 pmI don’t have any tatoos but I really like it when the characters have them. Especially when they connect with the story. :)
by Shelly A July 14th, 2009 at 6:56 pmI like the hero to have tattoo’s a little bad boy image I guess :)
by Crystal Adkins July 14th, 2009 at 7:36 pmTattoos are pretty hot. I love the tattoos in the Gena Showalter Lords of the Underworld series. YUM!
by Virginia Hendricks July 14th, 2009 at 7:46 pmI don’t like tattoos all over, but I absolutely adore tasteful tattoos, especially like when they are tied into the story. My cousin has a large one all over her forearm and I hate it. However, my sister has a little one on her lower back that I think is really cute. So, I guess it depends on the tattoo, where it is, and why they have it.
by Andrea July 14th, 2009 at 8:41 pmOMG yes I do I do I do.I’m having a big B-Day this year I would so love to get me a tat to celebrate the mile stone I have achieved.
by alba July 14th, 2009 at 9:26 pmTatoos dont bother me. I just think of them as another characteristic like hair and eye color.
by Donna S July 14th, 2009 at 10:21 pmIF THE GUY OR GIRL IS ALREADY HOT, TATS JUST MAKE ‘EM HOTTER!! I HAVE 4 OF MY OWN!
by TAMARA HOLBERT July 14th, 2009 at 10:51 pmI don’t mind tattoos on the hero or heroine and sometimes they are integral to the story – such as in the Jacqueline Carey books or Ash in Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books where the tatoo is a demon in a different form.
by Heather July 15th, 2009 at 1:34 amI like tattoos. I like them most when they aren’t generic and have meaning for the person wearing it. As far as heros and heroines I guess they are the same as any other descriptor and can help drive an image of that character whether it be sexy or edgy or a bit scary.
by LaRonda July 15th, 2009 at 1:43 amI like both tattooed and “bare” characters, but I like it when the tattoos have a meaning. Eg. Marjorie M. Liu’s Maxine Kiss, or Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunters. They have tattoos that are more than decorative or symbolic.
by Paula July 15th, 2009 at 6:02 am
