Laid Bare with Flair Contest Day 19!

Today the talented Elisabeth Naughton is our hostess!

Blurb:
His past tore them apart. Her lies thrust them back together. Now a killer’s out for revenge, but the biggest threat for both may just be the heat they thought they’d already lost….

Antiquities dealer Peter Kauffman walked a fine line between clean and corrupt for years. And then he met the woman who changed his life—Egyptologist Katherine Meyer. Their love affair burned white-hot in Egypt, until the day Pete’s lies and half-truths caught up with him. After that, their relationship imploded, Kat walked out, and before Pete could find her to make things right, he heard she’d died in a car bomb.

Six years later, the woman Pete thought he’d lost for good is suddenly back. The lies this time aren’t just his, though. The only way he and Kat will find the truth and evade a killer out for revenge is to work together—as long as they don’t find themselves burned by the heat each thought was stolen long ago…

Reviews:
“Exciting, action-packed and fast moving, this story seamlessly alternates from the present to the past. A first-rate mystery, it has well-developed characters and a suspenseful and satisfying climax. A fine romantic thread winds through it all.”
–RT BOOKReviews

STOLEN HEAT is an awesome combination of deadly suspense, edgy action and a wonderful romance with characters that you’ll laugh, cry and yell with. I had a great time reading it and I’m definitely looking forward to more of Ms. Naughton’s books.”

Post:
Big thanks to Lauren for having me here today! The second book in my Stolen trilogy releases next week, July 28th. In honor of the release, I’m giving away two prizes here today – an autographed copy of STOLEN HEAT and, because a good portion of this book takes place in Egypt, this beautiful necklace of the Egyptian hieroglyphic Ankh, which represents eternal life.

The origin of the Ankh is not entirely understood by Egyptologists, but one of the earliest suggestions came from Egyptologist Thomas Inman, first published in 1869:

[It] is by Egyptologists called the symbol of life. It represents the male triad and the female unit, under a decent form. There are few symbols more commonly met with in Egyptian art than this. In some remarkable sculptures, where the sun’s rays are represented as terminating in hands, the offerings which these bring are many a crux ansata, emblematic of the truth that a fruitful union is a gift from the deity.
The Ankh is also called the key of life, the key of the Nile, or crux ansata, Latin for “cross with a handle”. Whatever you call it, this necklace is a real beauty.

To be entered into the drawing for both STOLEN HEAT and the Ankh necklace, simply leave me a comment here today! A winner will be announced tomorrow!

I have a question… how did you decide to do an Egyptian book? Was it hard doing all the research?

Very cool! I’ve hear great things about your books, Elisabeth. I definitely need to look into them.
I’ve always been interested in Egypt/Egyptology as well, although I admit my fascination with classical Greece & Rome took most of my time and focus.
