Reading, Read, TBR

I’ve read some really awesome stuff of late so I thought I’d share what I’ve been reading and what’s in my TBR

So as many of you all know, the super awesome Nalini Singh released Heart of Obsidian June 4 so to get ready, I re-read Tangle of Need. I’d forgotten how much really hot sexual tension Nalini wrote between Riaz and Adria. SO GOOD. It’s not an easy feat to write all that yearning and heat and she totally does. And then I finished Heart of Obsidian last night. WOW.  Truly, so totally good. Major world stuff going on. Tortured (literally) heroine, tortured (literally) hero. a slow build of heat that is, holy wow, so good.  If you haven’t read the series I highly recommend it – it’s one of my favorites of all time.

I also read Meridian Six by Jaye Wells – this is a new world for her. Darker than her Sabina Kane books. I really loved it and I hope she does more in the world in the future so we can hear more about this group of characters, human and vampire who are fighting an uber big bad.

I discovered and binged on Kalayna Price’s Grave books – really loved Alex and the cast of witches, Fae, humans and ghosts. I’m excited to read more from her in the future.

My daughter asked if she could read Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments books and she’s a little young so I bought and read the first one to see (I’ll make her wait a year or two) but I’m glad I did because I really did love the books

I’m a HUGE Jennifer Estep – Gin Blanco fan and I was lucky enough to get an early peek at Heart of Venom (ok so I managed to guilt Jennifer into sending it to me early. LOL)  It’s SO GOOD. If you follow the series you know things have been sort of unfinished between Gin and Owen and a lot of loose ends are dealt with. There is a lot of action, which tends to make resolution between characters difficult, but here Estep manages to do so and do so in a way that rings SO TRUE for Gin and the people in her life who are her family of choice. Sophia’s past has been hinted at for most of the series and in Heart of Venom you get it and she’s really fleshed out as a character. But really? It’s Gin who grows so much over the book.  Pre order this one right now and if you haven’t read the series get on it!

I’m going to be on vacation with my brood and doing a lot of travel so I’ve got a nice nest egg TBR on my kindle that I’ve been hoarding – Carly Phillips’ Perfect Fling, Jill Shalvis’ It Had to Be You, HelenKay Dimon’s Harlequin/Cosmo novella Everything You Need To Know, Sierra Dean’s Pitch Perfect and Chasing Kings, Eve Silver’s Rush, Stephanie Tyler’s Defiance – are just a few. I’m so ridiculously excited to have reading time!

What are you all reading?

I just started reading Lorelei James Rough Riders series. I know I’m way behind. I’m on book #4 and I really like this series. I got to meet Lorelei at Lori Foster’s get together a few weeks ago. She was so nice.

I am totally immersed in all the Kirsten Ashley books. I think they have a very distinctive and fresh dialogue.

I also just recently finished Nalini Singh’s Heart of Obsidian and you are so right… Wow!! It was awesome. After HOO I had 4 other new downloads from the same June 4th release day to read so I’ve been in book heaven for over a week getting those read. Over the weekend I started (and hope to finish up today) a Christine Feehan release from last year that I somehow missed — and today I’m patiently awaiting midnight to strike so I can download Lorelei James newest Redneck Romeo. I’m looking forward to so many new releases this summer — especially June 25th for Monica McCarty’s The Hunter and then in the month of August for Kristen Ashley’s grand finale to her Rock Chicks series with Rock Chick Revolution. 🙂

I’ve gotten totally hooked on Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid series. It’s so well-written that I don’t even miss the romance!

I finished Heart of Obsidian this week as well. Love the series and really looking forward to the next one. I am currently reading Changing the Game by Jaci Burton. Keep getting hooked on the series of books.
Enjoy the vacation, you’ve earned it.
And good to know about Mortal Instruments, my daughter (almost 13) is reading them, recommended from Media specialist at school. Maybe I should start checking her books out a bit more.

I’m tearing through the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon right now, and am looking forward to see what I bring back from ALA in terms of Romance and stuff like that, so I’m trying to not pack the TBR pile too full haha! We will see how good that goes. 🙄
