Question Sunday

Ask em if you’ve got em! My awesome and gorgeous cousin is getting married today to her fabulous fiance so I may not be around until later on to answer. But I will!

Monica asks: I have what I consider to be a dangerous kind of question…. have you EVER read some other authors work and thought to yourself.. I could have done better than that giving if you had those same characters to work with?

No. I think characters and story belong to the author who created them. So I’m of the opinion that they know best for those characters and that story. I may not always like the way a certain author chooses to have those characters act, but I don’t generally think I could do better. I just write my own thing 🙂 (but no worries! I’m not offended you asked)

Nadia asks Did you have any character inspirations for Todd and Ben. Who would you cast to play them in a movie??

I really don’t know! Sometimes I have a very strong inspiration when I’m writing. For instance when I wrote Relentless I really saw Romance Lyons as Daniel Craig. But with Todd and Ben, *I* know what they look like in my head, but I’ve yet to see a celebrity or athlete who I’d say, “OMG he’s perfect!” yet.

Tanya asks: Can we get an idea of when the next De La Vega Cats book will be? Oh and maybe who it will be about:)?

I don’t know yet! This coming year I’ve got a Petal book and a Cascadia novella coming out with Samhain so de La Vega will be up after that (so 2014). I just haven’t quite settled on who yet.

Barbara asks: Who’s book is after Beth’s? And are you planning any other novellas for the Brown series?

I haven’t decided yet on who will come after Beth. Usually I figure that out as I’m writing the previous book. I’m leaning toward Anne right now, but I can’t say for sure just yet. As for the Browns? I don’t know! You’ll see plenty of them in the Delicious books and Raven’s book is actually going to be classified as a Brown Siblings series book as as she’s Erin’s best friend and works with Brody, you’ll see plenty of both in her book.

Christine asks: Can you give us any details about Gage’s book ?

Gage’s book picks up several weeks after the end of Chaos Burning. The world has changed in major ways, not just for the Others, who have all lost loved ones, but for humans who now know of the existence of all the Others. It’s a dark time. There’s unrest. The Others are reeling from grief and yet they have to deal with all this anger and suspicion too. So into this walks Molly, our heroine, who has pretty much lived as a human, though she knows she’s a witch and hasn’t been ashamed of it or anything. She’s a PR whiz and until the book opens, has run a successful marketing firm in Chicago. And then along with some of her family, she loses her livelihood and realizes she can use her skills to help the Others deal with the PR nightmare of coming out to humans the way they did.

She and Gage clash here and there because their jobs are different, of course. He’s a protector, a defender, a warrior. She uses her words and not her magick or her fists. He accompanies her on a road show of sorts where she and other representatives of the Other community testify all across the country at town halls and legislative houses, all while the violence and danger increases…

And some information about the follow up to Goddess with a Blade? When it will be out and what the storyline will be about?

I don’t know much at this point. It’s still with my editor. Most likely late 2013, early 2014 and I’ll be sending Rowan to deal with the Vampire Nation at the Keep. Lots of personal and professional stuff to deal with!

First off I hope you had fun at the wedding. I have what I consider to be a dangerous kind of question…. have you EVER read some other authors work and thought to yourself.. I could have done better than that giving if you had those same characters to work with? I say this because I read an awful lot and I find myself wondering if this author had these characters what more or less would they do to them? Full Disclosure. I think you would have done an EXCELLENT JOB WITH NORA ROBERTS J.D. ROBB SERIES. There I said IT. I believe this a TABOO SUBJECT because there are some things a person just does not want to admit to and I get that. But it still does not stop the thought in me to just plain old WONDER ABOUT IT. I hope I did not offend any author you may care about and I completely understand if you don’t want to answer this, but if you do by all means I look forward to your email on this question. Thank you if you decide to answer, if not, I really do understand. Monica T. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
