Help!
Jun

I’ve been invited by the folks in the ESPAN Chapter of the RWA to be their guest speaker at their Afternoon Tea at RWA National next week.

Whatever should I talk about? To my readers who are interested in issues of publishing/small press/digital publishing – what would you like to hear about (from me, so it has to be something I know about, so um, no theoretical physics or anything)

Thanks!

I’d pick to hear more about working with an editor, it would be good to hear about first hand experiences with one. Also the dreaded query letter and ways to respond when you get rejections with feedback.

I’d love to hear about your experiences working with big publishers and smaller ones, how your experiences differed, and perhaps how the distribution of your books was handled differently.

    Good luck!

How is digital publishing different from traditional publishing – do you get galleys for an e-book? Do you promote differently? If a work is coming out in both mediums, and it’s available as an e-book first, does that improve – or discourage sales of the traditional trade paperback? What do you wish small presses and digital publishing would do that they don’t, at least not yet?

Talk about your books and what inspires you to write or the subject you write; what you hope is the reason why so many love to read your books.

Totally off topic but I wanted to know if you saw this article over at Heroes and Heartbreakers:

    http://www.heroesandheartbreakers.com/blogs/2011/06/reading-erotica-does-not-make-me-a-pervert-but-it-does-make-me-happy?utm_source=hhnewsletterromancesub&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=hhnwsltr&WT.mc_id=10108

You’re touted as one of the essayist’s favorite erotic romance authors and you’re in lovely, lovely company!

Re your talk, I’d be interested in hearing how the processes differ between those 3 types of publishing. What are the major advantages/disadvantages of each for you as an author? Is there something you could point to that would make the experience better for each type of publishing? Okay, now I’m really interested–maybe you should video your talk!
