Guest Blog – R.G. Alexander

I met today’s guest, R.G. Alexander at my very first RT Convention in Houston! One of the nicest people I know, RG is also a fabulous writer! Isn’t that cover gorgeous?

I am so excited that Lauren invited me to come on her blog today, especially since I’m a bit of a fan ☺

Tomorrow my debut Berkley Heat book, POSSESS ME, goes out into the world and I’m thrilled, thankful and surprised. I say that last bit because this story was full of constant surprises for me-not the least of which was the star of the anthology himself.

Bone Daddy.

I write paranormal erotic romance, mythology is my passion, and I have a thing for misunderstood supernatural heroes, but I never imagined in a million years that I would write a story that had anything to do with voodoo. Let alone a sex Loa, a voodoo spirit that grants women whatever their hearts desire…as long as they satisfy his lust. When he came to me, however, he simply would not leave me alone.

Wouldn’t rest until I saw him as more than a “rider”, a monkey on my first hero, Rousseau’s, back.

And after discovering his whole story, learning more about him and his past through the three novellas, I’m glad I listened. I love all my heroes, Ben and Rousseau are amazing men in their own right, but I have to admit I have a special place in my heart for the most unique character that has ever wandered across my pages.

I have a crush on Bone Daddy. I hope you like him too (I’m sure he won’t rest until you do).

Here’s the blurb

In the Big Easy, there’s a legend women long for: a sexual voodoo spirit who can fulfill their darkest fantasies. And in these three steaming-hot novellas, he helps two New Orleans couples achieve the ultimate satisfaction…and may even find it himself.

In Release Me, Allegra heads down to New Orleans to heal her wounds, but she never expects to lose her heart to such a quiet, troubled man as Rousseau. She’s even less prepared for the scorching, sexual spirit within him-and what he can do to her…

In Reclaim Me, Ben has loved Michelle as long as he can remember. But his beautiful artist has a way of running away from life-and what the pair could be. Leave it to the infamous spirit to help Ben prove to Michelle where she belongs: in his embrace…

In Redeem Me, it’s All Saints’ Day, the one day the voodoo spirit can walk the world in the flesh. When he bumps into Bethany, she might just be the reincarnation of a girl he once loved. Passion ignites, but can the couple overcome past mistakes and have a real chance at love?

To celebrate the release of Possess Me, I’ll be giving away a signed copy of the book to one of today’s posters!

I love the idea of using a Loa spirit as the key ingredient tying all the stories together. I truly admire any writer than can bend myth and make it magic, with or without the ‘k’ at the end. 😀

When you did research for the voodoo aspect of the book, did you learn anything new about the practice or anything that surprised you?

Fun stuff question: Can you draw a vey vey now? 😀

Wishing you all the best and hope you sell a million copies. I know I plan to buy one.

Cool!! I’m a vodun “expert” (NOT!) cause I lived in Haiti (vodun central) for 9 years. It’s such an interesting religion.
I would LOVE to read your book!

Lauren! Thank you so much-and that was MY first RT convention too-and I seem to recall walking over to your table and fan girling all over you 😳

Cerri-I actually learned a lot about voodoo-when I first thought of the story I was thinking, “No way, Serpent and the Rainbow is NOT romantic” lol but there’s so much more to it than that-and so many different aspects. It was fascinating to research. Plus I took a bit of creative license. 😉

Anilu-I might have to talk to you when its time for the sequel TEMPT ME lol
    And thanks!

Ana-flattery will get you everywhere. 🙂

    Afshan-thanks!

I’m anxious to read this one! I have to say that it’s not often that voodoo is portrayed as something other than hexing people or turning them ínto zombies. Plus, the eye candy on the cover is scrumptious!! LOL
