Contesty Goodness

2010

I was thinking yesterday that it was about time for a contest. As some of you may know, I have two books coming out in July:

Desire is the most dangerous sensation of all.

With tensions between the Federation and Imperial ‘Verses rising, one woman may hold the key to victory. The dangerous mission to smuggle her out of Imperial Territory falls to Daniel Haws and his team, the ultra secret Phantom Corps. This elite squad of the Federation Military is the only one trusted and skilled enough to remove her from under the watchful eye of her father, the Supreme Commander of the Imperial ‘Verses.

Carina is used to wearing a mask. Her father and his men think her little more than a pretty prize to be won by a man more ruthless than the rest. When he announces his intention to marry her to one of his henchmen, a man known for his cruelty, Carina knows she has to move as soon as possible to get out. But getting secret information to the Federation has served her well for years and she appeals to them for help.

She expected rescue from a man who’d been her enemy. But she wasn’t prepared for just how intense her attraction to Daniel Haws would be. Born as adversaries into different ranks, and on the run for their lives, they now need each other to survive–by holding on to the only thing they have in common: a growing desire that is dangerous, irresistible, and insatiable…

and on the 20th, REVELATION, the next in the de La Vega Cats series

He has the one thing she never thought she deserved. A place to belong…

Blurb: De La Vega Cats, Book 2

At long last, Kendra Kellogg has found her sister—but she’s no closer to filling the gaps in her past. The magick that brought them together makes them targets for dark mages intent on finishing what started with their mother’s murder.

As if her life wasn’t chaotic enough, in barrels the one thing she doesn’t expect, Max de La Vega. He’s six-and-a-half-feet of cocoa-brown alpha male. He’s strong, intelligent, sexy and intense. Everything she’d wanted in a man. And he scares the hell out of her. Still healing from a disastrous past relationship, she wonders if she’ll ever have that kind of forever.

The next in line to run his jaguar jamboree, Max is unused to hearing “no”. Once he knows what he wants, he assumes he’ll get it. And he wants Kendra. She deserves happiness and it’s his mission to give it to her.

When dark mages attempt to steal her magickal energy, Max’s cat agrees with the man—Kendra is his to protect and he will stop at nothing to keep her safe. She can push him away as hard as she likes, he’s not going anywhere.

So yeah I guess I should, you know, give some away. What do you think?

How about I give away two digital ARCs of INSATIABLE and 2 of REVELATION? Yeah, that’s the ticket. SO here’s what you need to do if you want to enter: Reply with your favorite book to movie adaptation (can be graphic novels too)

I’ll choose the winners Friday June 11 at noon pacific. Winners must check back here to see if they’ve won and contact me within seven days of winning.

Good luck!

The Last of the Mohicans is a favorite of mine. Could have something to do with Daniel Day-Lewis, lol. I also loved Bridget Jones’ Diary.

I can’t wait for these books! Thanks for giving us all a chance to win one!

My favorite book to movie adaptation would be Sense and Sensibility, which was adapted by Emma Thompson. I love the relationship between the Dashwood sisters and the scene between Elinor and Edward towards the end of the movie gets me every time!

I’m looking forward to reading both of these books!

For book to movie, I’ll go with the first Harry Potter.

Now if it was a book series to say movie mini-series I will have to say North and South. I absolutely loved both the books and the movies.

Pride and Prejudice for me. The BBC series first – maybe that can’t count because it was a series then the latest movie version with Matthew Macfadyen. Love the romantic tension in that one!

To be honest if I’ve loved a book I will always finding the film dissapointing.
The only film adaptations I have liked are for books I didn’t enjoy much at all.

The exception would be some of Jane Austen’s works. The BBC TV adaptations are best but as far as films go:
I think Keira Knightly’s P&P should be trashed and I’m not sure whether is it the character of Emma or Gwyneth Paltrow’s portrayl of her that I find so irritating.
On the positive side the new version of Sense & Sensibilty is quite good and Emma Thompson’s version is great as is Persuasion with Amanda Root.

But the best one, with a hero even challenging Colin Firth’s Darcy, is the 2007 version of Northanger Abbey.

One of my favorites has to be Atonement. It stayed very close to the story and the acting was great.

My favourite book to movie adaptation would have to be Lord Of The Rings as directed by Peter Jackson (closely followed by Eregon starring Ed Speleers).

Just want to add I LOVE those covers 😀

While I was disappointed in the film adaptation of Twilight, I thought Chris Weitz did a brilliant job on the New Moon film. He stuck to the book fairly well and only made thoughtful changes. Can’t wait to see how Eclipse turns out!

This is a hard question for me. I guess Pride & Prejudice or any of the Harry Potter movies would be my pick.

My favorite book to movie adaptation is Green Mile. What a great movie and a great book! Stephen King never fails to please and this movie was great. Hands down.

I agree that the Harry potter movies were great also, except for HP #6–WTF was that? They did NOT stay true to the storyline at all.

I usually don’t enjoy books made into movies. The exception would be Atonement with The Notebook coming in a close second.

My favorite book to movie is probably also Pride & Prejudice, though I actually think I prefer the Keira version to the Firth. I love both, but I just really adore the Keira one.

I would have to say 300. I loved everything about that movie! I thought the visuals were just stunning and the bodies on those Spartans…. Plus – it had me on the edge of my seat and it made me cry. So I give it two thumbs way up.

Favorite book to movie adaptation is Green Mile. Stephen King NEVER fails to please… or terrorize. For that very reason IT was at bottom of fave adaptations. :X

And I wantz Insatiable–love the Federation series and the cover is so drool worthy!

PS: Harry Potter #6 movie made me sad cuz it did NOT follow storyline at all! What was JK thinking?

Bridget Jone’s Diary along with Pride & Prejudice, are classics for me. Those two should be in everyones home in book and DVD format.
Then there are the Harry Potter & Lord of the Ring books. I think i enjoyed them more in movie than the books. Then again, maybe if i had started reading them as a child i would have liked them better.

Btw, do book-to-tv-series count? I love the six hour BBC Pride and Prejudice miniseries with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy *swoon*

IMO most movies just don’t come close to the awesome that was the original book.

Can’t wait for you 2 new books!

OH and True Blood/Sookei Stackhouse Series LOVE both the books and show

    *ahem*

Oooopppsssss… that’s not an entry, is it? Hold on, lemme see…

The Shawshank Redemption, hands down. Best use of voice over narration, ever, and the chemistry between Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman is just amazing. The story is great (but then I believe Stephen King is at his best on short stories).

Lord of The Rings, for sure-the entire trilogy, but especially Fellowship of the Ring.
I thought it was just spot on, and perfectly true to the book. I’m very excited that Peter Jackson will also be involved in making a movie version of The Hobbit 😀

How about book to TV show? The Sookie Stackhouse series being turned into True Blood. Otherwise, probably My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

Can’t WAIT for your new books, but I’m really excited for the next Brown siblings 🙂
