Amazon's Top Ten Romances of 2005

Amazon has just released its list of the top ten romances of 2005:

  1. Breath of Snow and Ashes, Gabaldon
  2. It’s In His Kiss, Quinn
  3. The Trouble With Valentine’s Day, Gibson
  4. Undead and Unappreciated, Davidson
  5. The Smoke Thief, Abe
  6. Wait Until Midnight, Quick
  7. 50 Harbor Street, Macomber
  8. Dark Secret, Feehan
  9. Mr. Impossible, Chase
  10. Flirting With Danger, Enoch

I would like to point out to a certain author who was just moaning about the horror of a tide of erotic romances, that not one of the list above is an erotic romance. In fact, there are several trads in the list and two vamps.

What do you all think of the list? Agree? Disagree? Have your own additions?

I worked temp again this holiday in one of their warehouses… the author I saw the most of was Nora Roberts/JD Robb. I’m surprised one of those books isn’t on their list because many have high ratings in that system too. I’m not complaining, I’m just surprised.

I haven’t read any of the books, so I can’t comment. The only one I would read would be Loretta Chase’s Mr Impossible.

Annalee – I was disappointed that no JD Robb books were on the list. I thought the last two In Death books were very good. Perhaps they don’t consider them to be romance though.

Karen, Mr. Impossible was really good.

Eek! I haven’t read one of those books. I do have my eye on The Smoke Thief but can’t afford to buy it until it comes out in paperback.

I’ve heard Mr. Impossible was good but it hasn’t found its way to my to-read pile yet. I’d have to agree about the JD Robb books. That’s one of the few series that I continue to read – along with Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum

Shelley, book 10 in the Plum series was not very impressive but I think she was back on her game with book 11. But seriously if there isn’t some Ranger sex soon, and I mean bending Stephanie over a couch and doing her standing up, I’m going to expire.

I’d like to read the Gabaldon, I love Jamie and Claire as a couple but I’m waiting for paper.

I like Rachel Gibson’s sense of humor a lot and I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the Smoke Thief.
