EC Books Banned at Ebay

Yep, that’s what I said. Several EC books sold through the Ebay store were removed and the authors told they were banned due to being “misclassified according to their mature audience guidelines”

I don’t know what EC is doing about it. I’ve asked on the author loop where I know several editors are subscribed. They need to be active on this and I suspect they will be given that one of the books pulled was Jaid Black’s. The absolutely wonderful Tawny Taylor’s, Private Games was also pulled from sale. However, should you all want to strike a blow for freedom of expression AND buy a good book, you can still order it in paper via email at orders@ellorascave.com.

The ebay store is still up. My book is still there but IMO, they have to push this hard and immediately. In the first place, erotica is sold at ebay not in the adult section but in the literature section. In the second place, if they’ll suspend sales and refuse to let some books be listed at EC’s store based on customer complaints, this leaves us all open to having our books pulled and we know how active the right is on those kinds of things. Lastly, the listing says the book is rated “erotic” and if you don’t know that a book with three naked people embracing on the cover rated erotic sold from Ellora’s Cave is going to have sex in it, you’re the one who should be banned from using a credit card for heaven’s sake.

I thought EC had a good relationship with Ebay? Are they gonna re-categorise?

I bet somebody complained. That’s the only time a company like Ebay would take this kind of action.

I have no idea. No one official has said anything to us about this other than to notify the authors in question.

I’m guessing that someone complained instead of just tossing the book or asking EC for a refund. Because small minds can’t be happy until they decide what everyone else should be doing.

Well, it’s a load of crap, but doesn’t surprise me. They were behind the paypal deal, because as well all know they own paypal, they bought out the two duded who started it.

They’re cracking down on erotic anything. I’m surprised they let EC sell on there in the first place. But you’re right they must have received a complaint about the offensive nature of soem of the covers from a few puritans and now are backtracking and covering their butts.

I posted on Karen’s blog about this. Re-classifying or not it stinks to high heaven.

Thank God I’m not dependent on them for my EC books.

I’ve already mentioned the band t-shirts my son shops for…they aren’t in a special section. He’s 15 and you should see the stuff he finds on them.

    Same goes for videos.

I’ll be anxious to hear what, if anything, EC will do.
