Mei NiaAine spent a three thousand years in a demon prison in the outer circle of hell. Escaping with her life, it’s taken another two thousand years to get her life back together with the help and love of her husband and mate, Card.
Mei is a Warrior For the Balance. She stands between good and evil. So when her boss tells her she’s got to head to Tir na nOg to help the Fae, she is most displeased. Mei’s mother, Aine, the queen of the Fae betrayed and exiled her those millennia ago. Or so she’s been led to believe.
But it was a lie. Aine was mislead by her own sister, Mei’s aunt and suddenly, everything Mei has thought was true for thousands of years falls down around her ears as she looks up to see the face of her husband. Her first husband, a man she’d thought was dead.
Jayce MacTavish is surprised to find that not only is his wife, thought millennia dead, is alive, but his joy is tempered by the realization that she’s got another mate.
Mei, Card and Jayce must find a way to be together as three while the threat from the Dark Fae and a new enemy darkens the horizon.
The first time he’d kissed her, it started out as a comfort. Eleven years after Carthau and she’d still had nightmares. She’d still mourned the loss of her family and Jayce. They’d been on the beach off the Oregon Coast and the sunset had been so beautiful it made her ache.
With gentle hands he’d turned her to face him and kissed her cheeks, tasting her tears. Slowly, making sure she had enough time to call a halt, he’d moved to her mouth and with the softest, gentlest brush of his lips, had kissed her.
She knew then that he was someone she could trust. That he would protect her and care for her but most of all, he’d respect her. Mei had already pretty much fallen in love with him but that gentle kiss had been the moment she’d let herself go and stopped feeling guilty for wanting a new start.
Her hands dropped to the waist of his jeans, her fingers tracing around just inside, denim to bare skin. The scent of his desire tickled her senses, seducing her. Unable to resist looking, she stood back a step when she undid his pants, smiling when his cock spilled out into her hands. “I love your cock,” she said, bringing her thumb, slick with pre-cum, to her mouth.
“God, I love it when you do that. You’re so damned sexy.” Card’s eyes glittered as he watched. Pressing one last kiss to her lips, he added, “I love you too, Mei. I needed to hear all that. I felt it, but I needed to hear it too.”
She felt the emotion there between them and it caught in her throat for a moment.
The sound of a throat being cleared brought them both around. In the background, Card started the water in the shower. Jayce strode back in to the room, gaze intent on Mei’s body. “Goddess, you’re more beautiful now than you were three thousand years ago.”
Mei’s mouth dried and her eyes widened as Jayce magicked his clothing away. It wasn’t so much that she’d forgotten how beautiful he was, but it had been tucked away as a sweet memory that hurt too much to dwell on. Where Card was just under six feet tall and all broad, wide muscle, Jayce was nearly seven feet tall. His arms were muscled from swordwork, his belly flat from weapons drills and training. Fiery red hair hung down his back to his waist, the braids of the Favored at each temple. When they were younger she’d been so impressed by the older warriors and now Jayce was one. Her Jayce was one.
“I’m beautiful? Jayce, the two of you make me want to fall to my knees and shout thanks to the heavens.”
Wearing a sexy, arrogant grin, he reached out, grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms, his mouth finding hers. It had been so long and the shock of recognition slammed into her as she clung to him while he plundered her mouth. Tears of joy and homecoming pricked her lashes.
“I’m the one who’s thankful. To have you back with me after I thought I’d lost you forever? What a blessed man I am.”
Jayce picked her up and automatically her legs wrapped about his waist as he carried her into the shower where Card already waited, steam rising from his body.
“Okay, shower first and then fucking. Lots of fucking.” Jayce kissed her tears away before putting her down under the spray. “So beautiful. You were this memory I carried inside me for so long. Sometimes I wondered if it’d ever been real.” He slid soap-slicked hands over her as Card helped with her hair. “And yet here you are, the same woman and yet different. But it’s good. And I’m seeing this other man touch you and instead of being pissed off, it turns me on. I can’t say I’ve ever been attracted to men or had voyeur fantasies but it works.” He winked at Card over Mei’s shoulder and they shared a laugh.
“Oh man, you two are going to double team me? Oh, wait, that doesn’t sound bad. I take it back if it sounded like a complaint.” Mei arched into Jayce’s touch as he palmed her nipples. Tug and pinch, over and over until unconsciously she rolled her hips into his body.
“Please, let’s get out of here. I’m not proud, I’m begging you. Two men, two cocks, four hands, someone needs to be using them on me, and right now!”
Laughing, it only took a matter of moments before everyone was clean and dry and practically running back to the bedroom. Kissing and petting, they all fell to the bed in a tangle of arms and legs.
Talia at Joyfully Reviewed says of THREAT OF DARKNESS: Whether she is writing werewolves or fantasy, I know I am in for a great story when I open a Lauren Dane book. Threat of Darkness was no different. (…) Threat of Darkness is just another great book in my Lauren Dane collection. I would suggest it to anyone.

So if you are looking for a book that has heart, fight and lots of loving as well, Threat of Darkness has it all. You’ll not be disappointed as Lauren Dane writes another amazing story

Pam at My Book Cravings gives THREAT OF DARKNESS five flowers and says in part: The sexual encounters between the three mates are everything you could wish for in a ménage grouping…sizzling hot, steamy and above all loving. Chrissy at Romance Junkies gives THREAT OF DARKNESS four and a half ribbons and says in part: I fell in love with the characters in this story and Mei absolutely won me over with her kick butt attitude, inner strength and devotion to Cord and Jayce. The three of them together are simply unforgettable and whether lovemaking or fighting the Dark Fae, there’s no doubt they compliment each other beautifully.
Lisa at The Romance Studio gives THREAT OF DARKNESS four and a half hearts and says in part: (…) it is very apparent this author spent a lot of time organizing her notes and crafting a riveting tale of dark forces battling the good. Mei’s relationship with her mates, Jayce and Card, is the most important part of this story. Their love and concern for her keeps her sane and bolsters her spirits when her body is depleted of magic. We get to revisit characters from the Witches Knot series, and that’s always exciting to see how past heroes and heroines are faring.
Kerin at Two Lips Reviews gives THREAT OF DARKNESS four lips and says in part: The world that Lauren Dane creates in an interesting one so if you’re looking for a book that will drawn you into a universe that you never imagined existed, this book is for you.
Serena at FAR gives THREAT OF DARKNESS four angels and says in part: (…) this was a fantastic book. The characters are well-rounded and truly real ‘feeling’. (…) Both Jayce and Card were definitely drool-worthy and I loved Mei’s strength throughout the book. I truly hope that we are able to revisit the relationship that’s been established in this book.
