RELENTLESSLY BIG CONTEST Day Nineteen!

Here it is, the very last daily contest! Tomorrow I’ll announce the winner of this one and then the Grand Prize and two First Prize winners!

So today’s book is: Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Ain’t She Sweet. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for SEP. I love her books. She has that special something that really appeals to me. Her characters are never perfect but you love them anyway and in Ain’t She Sweet, SEP gives us that girl in high school you loved to hate. The perfect, snotty girl who was pretty and popular and made people’s lives miserable. Only she’s an adult and things are never what they seem. Sugar Beth was my first SEP heroine and when she pulled it off so well, I knew I’d be a fan forever.

Blurb: Fifteen years ago, Sugar Beth Carey reigned supreme over the small Mississippi town of Parrish, but now she’s returning home a little bit shabby around the edges to claim a valuable painting left to her by her disapproving aunt. Fifteen years ago, Colin Byrne arrived in Parrish from England as a new teacher only to have his career destroyed by a spiteful young Sugar Beth. Fifteen years ago, Sugar Beth had everything Winnie Davis ever wanted, but because Winnie had the one thing Sugar Beth could never have, she turned Winnie’s life into a perpetual hell. So now Colin, a best-selling author, and Winnie, Parrish’s richest citizen, are determined to exact revenge for Sugar Beth’s past sins, but much to their surprise, neither one finds revenge to taste quite as sweet as they expected once they get to know the new Sugar Beth. A hero who wouldn’t be out of place in the pages of a Regency romance, a heroine who is equal parts grit and class, and a basset hound with a personality disorder are just a few of the memorable characters in Phillips’ sassy, sexy contemporary romance.

This one will ship directly from Amazon so the winner needs to live within the amazon delivery area (I can do Canada, UK and United States).

Today’s question: We’ve all got that book – the one that made us a fan of a certain author. What was yours? I know we’ve all got many of them so you need only list one (or you can put multiple ones down too, it’s all good with me!) Ain’t She Sweet was my Susan Elizabeth Phillips book – I’ve devoured everything she’s written ever since.

I’ll draw the winner at noon pacific tomorrow (May 4) Winners have seven days to claim their prize, after that time, I’ll redraw for a new winner. Good luck!!

RELENTLESSLY BIG CONTEST Day Eighteen

Today’s book is Mario Acevedo’s Nymphos of Rocky Flats. Click the cover to go to Mario’s site to read an excerpt.

Blurb: Back home in the States, the reluctantly undead former infantryman pays penance for his war-time sins—making a living as a private detective able to unravel mysteries that baffle his mortal counterparts. Now an old friend has asked him to investigate a bizarre outbreak of nymphomania at the secret government facilities in Rocky Flats, Colorado. Normally, Felix’s unorthodox—and downright supernatural—methods of extracting information are foolproof. But this time his efforts inadvertently stoke the lustful fires smoldering within the bodacious babes he’s interrogating . . . while eliciting cryptic mentions of Roswell and a top-secret Project Redlight.

P.I. Felix Gomez has finally landed a case he can really sink his teeth into. But when shadowy government agents and determined Eastern European vampire hunters get stirred in, this deadly goulash of tight lips and rampant libidos boils over . . .

You can read an excerpt here and see Mario’s other Felix Gomez books in the series as well. I admit what drew me to the first book was the title. I mean, hello, Nymphos of Rocky Flats? But the writing is what brought me back. Acevedo’s world is interesting, dark, funny and it does not take itself too seriously. It’s most certainly a new spin on vampires and I highly recommend the whole series.

So here you go, first taste is free, folks…

Today’s Question: Since this book is about vampires – who is your favorite vampire? (Can be a movie vamp or a vampire from literature)

I’ll draw the winner at noon pacific tomorrow (May 3) Winners have seven days to claim their prize, after that time, I’ll redraw for a new winner. Good luck!!

RELENTLESSLY BIG CONTEST Day Seventeen!!

Today’s book is a two-fer! A copy of To Do List and a copy of Sweet Charity (both digital books) in the format of the winner’s choice. These are connected novellas set in Davis, California.

Since she could pick up a pencil, Belle Taylor has used lists and charts to map out her life. When she achieves a goal, she marks it off her to do list. Simple. But now, just steps away from her corner-office, name-on-the-letterhead goal, she realizes that the life she thought she wanted may come at too high a price.

Exhausted, she retreats home for Christmas vacation to rethink her life, complete with all-new lists. What she hadn’t expected is Rafe Bettencourt, her brother’s best friend, the man who she thought only saw her as a pesky younger sister. But when he kisses her under the mistletoe, Belle finds herself with a whole new set of goals to balance with what she thought she always wanted.

Rafe knows Belle is trying to figure out what to do with her life. He also knows he’s done loving her from afar, and he’s not beneath making it as hard as possible for her to choose to return to San Francisco.

Because Rafe can make to-do lists too—and his plan is to seduce Belle back home where she belongs. At his side. And in his bed.

Charity Harris has finally got a taste of handsome bad boy and lifelong friend, Gabriel Bettencourt after eight years of pretending a horrible one night stand never happened. Trouble is, he’s persisting with his story about not wanting a relationship and not being good enough for her.

Gabriel has ached to make Charity his for many years now and having her in his bed, willing and not flinching away from his darker urges is more than he’d ever imagined it could be. But Charity needs candlelight, not candle wax and he didn’t have the kind of soul she needed in a husband. But he’d be a fool to turn down the offer of a short term fling so he could have his fill until it was time to move on.

Charity can’t be managed and Gabriel finds less and less resistance to her insistence that good girls can still be naughty and bad boys like him can still be gentle and loving when the time was right.

When he runs away to think things over on New Year’s Eve, she follows. Gabriel is about to find out that even sweet girls have their limits.

Today’s Question: Who’s your favorite superhero?

I’ll draw the winner at noon pacific tomorrow (May 2) Winners have seven days to claim their prize, after that time, I’ll redraw for a new winner. Good luck!!

RELENTLESSLY BIG CONTEST Day Fifteen!

Today’s book is Ann Aguirre’s Blue Diablo! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think Ann was the bee’s knees – she’s awesome and I count her among my dearest friends. But still, above and beyond that, she’s an amazing writer and Blue Diablo is the first in a new series she’s doing and it’s fabulous.

Blurb:

Right now, I’m a redhead. I’ve been blonde and brunette as the situation requires, though an unscheduled color change usually means relocating in the middle of the night. So far, I’m doing well here. Nobody knows what I’m running from. And I’d like to keep it that way…

Eighteen months ago, Corine Solomon crossed the border to Mexico City, fleeing her past, her lover, and her “gift”. Corine, a handler, can touch something and know its history—and sometimes, its future. Using her ability, she can find the missing—and that’s why people never stop trying to find her. People like her ex, Chance…

Chance, whose uncanny luck has led him to her doorstep, needs her help. Someone dear to them both has gone missing in Laredo, Texas, and the only hope of finding her is through Corine’s gift. But their search may prove dangerous as the trail leads them into a strange dark world of demons and sorcerers, ghosts and witchcraft, zombies—and black magic…

Today’s Question: If you could have any special magical gift, what would it be?

Winners will be announced tomorrow (April 30) at noon pacific! Winners have seven days to claim their prize, after that time, I’ll redraw for a new winner. Good luck!!
