Angie sent me a link to something she created, which made me giggle. She took this pic of me, or someone at Samhain did, at the RT booksigning in April. Anyway, I made the one above of Megan and I last night because she and I sold a book. A book we came up with at RT while standing in line as a matter of fact. I comes out in October of 08, which is verrrrry fast and very exciting. I can’t say for who yet, there’s one last detail to get in place but we have a title and we have a pub date and an editor and it’s all very cool.

Also, did you know the amazingly fabulous Anya Bast has a shiny new website? She totally does and it’s gorgeous! Go and oooh and aaah over it! She’s also running a contest at the Maverick author blog to win some fab books so get on over there to check it out!

Speaking of contests… head on over to the Bradford Bunch Blog - I’m doing round two of the To Do List contest!

And last but not least at all - the pub date for Battlefront is December 08! I’m so thrilled! WHHEEE! It’s not going to be called Battlefront (and in all honesty, I didn’t expect it to be, I rarely get to keep my titles, LOL) so I’ll get you the final title soon along with the back cover copy that is so made of awesome I actually squeed with joy when I read it. Leis Pederson, my editor, is so shiny with the blurbage, I’m totally happy with it!

That’s about it for now. I haven’t done much reading this last week to be honest. But I did reac 80K in notBattlefront last night and I’m heading into the home stretch. Whooo.

Sunday….

Nearly finished with my paper edits on Reading Between the Lines. It’s always hard to know what a story really is until you let it lie for a week or so and then pick it up again. Thank god it makes sense and flows and all that stuff, LOL. I love this couple, Haley and Conall are a lot of fun and Haley really transforms in some ways from start to finish, she’s got to deal with a lot of stuff so her journey was a challenge to write in an authentic way. I think I did it though!

Threat of Darkness releases on Wednesday from Ellora’s Cave. For everyone who’s written me in the last two years asking when I planned to do a story for Jayce macTavish, who we meet in A Touch of Fae - here you go. This is Jayce’s story along with Mei and Card’s as well. Yes, a menage. I did not plan for this book to be a menage. In fact, I re-wrote it from scratch twice but Card wouldn’t let go of Mei! And once I just threw my hands up and said, “Fine! Just do what you want.” and mumbled about them all being so ungrateful, the story really sped along for me. I suppose there’s a lesson in there about just writing the story that wants to be written. And in truth, I absolutely love this book and it turned out better than I’d even imagined.

To celebrate, A List Mom Day!

There’s a contest at The Bradford Bunch and The Dynamic Trio - you may want to check that out. And check in tomorrow for a contest here as well!!

70 Days wise - With my faboo numbers, I’m ahead of the numbers and I’m mainly editing right now. I’ll get some word count when I start to input all my edits and I’ll update then. I’ll be back to writing again by mid week.

OH and a tip - when your nearly 3 year old comes up to you and says, “here momma!” look at what she’s giving you before you take it. Just trust me on that…

Thursday Stuff

No Thursday Thirteen for me today. I wrote until midnight last night and our internet was out from 2 pm until this morning so I’ll do it next week.

Anyway, I’m done being pissed at the RWA. I’m waiting to hear back from my publishers who are there and then I’ll write a letter. I can’t see renewing next year but it’s all water under the bridge and truly, aside from the ability to advertise in Romance Sells, it’s not like I’ve gotten a lot of benefits from the RWA anyway. Although I did love that article on writing from Nora in the RWR and I do read at least one thing in it every month. I’m always impressed with something another author says - Cathy Maxwell’s interview a few issues back for instance, I’ve never read her before but after that interview I went out and picked up a few of her books because wow, the woman is wicked smart.

I wish we could all just focus on the important stuff and not act like a bunch of sixth grade girls creating private clubs to keep people out. But I can’t control other people, I can only control what I do and so whatever. I was a romance author before I joined the RWA and I’ll be one after I let my membership lapse as well.

I’m over at The Bradford Bunch today talking about characters. Contest goodness as well…

The abominable heat of yesterday and the day before has broken, yay! It’s like 75 now instead of 100.

And then after I got that far, I gave in and wrote this opening scene that’s been poking me in the brain. This one is post apocalyptic with a romance sub-plot.

Shiny! Magically Delicious!

bb header

So the very clever Ann Aguirre came up with an idea. How about seven of our agent, Laura Bradford’s authors get together and do a group blog. The Bradford Bunch Blog was born featuring: Ann Aguirre, Anya Bast, Cynthia Eden, Jodi Lynn Copeland, Lauren Dane, Marissa Scott and Vonna Harper - Vonna’s link isn’t working today!

Anyway, Ann is going to kick the blog off Sunday and there’ll be multiple giveaways to start the blog right to pop in and say hello. We’ll be blogging in order of our names on the header of the blog but there are some fabulous authors on board so you never know what you may find!
