Drums, Lush and Pre-Orders

Working on LUSH – which is Mary’s book and Delicious book 3 (got my cover this week and I can’t wait to show it off! So awesome)

The hero of the book is a friend of Adrian’s. In fact, he did the drum work on Adrian’s new CD so of course in the name of research I’ve been watching many videos of dudes playing drums.

Dave Grohl (you can skip past Kurt Cobain saying lovely things at the opening to when Dave starts playing)

I couldn’t find any good video of Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley playing drums as a tutorial or even just a close up – but their Kool Thing video is a great showcase to his talent (and it’s an awesome song)

Can’t leave Danny Carey (Tool’s drummer) out!

Anyway, so many drummers with so many great styles (Can’t forget Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, Stewart Copeland, Ginger Baker – etc) so that’s a fun thing to suck up more time than I should be sparing, LOL.

Also, did you know you could pre-order the trade paperback version of ONCE AND AGAIN that’ll include, ALONE TIME? Alone Time is part of my Visits to Petal series which will be bonus material releasing with the print editions of new Petal books. You can also preorder the digital version of Alone Time for the low low price of absolutely FREE at Amazon (but yes, it’ll also be up at BN and the Samhain site as well). Once and Again and Alone Time will release September 4.

Oh and over at RT Bookreviews, they’re talking sophomore books in PNR series and they highlighted CHAOS BURNING (along with Rachel Vincent, Tami Dane and Nancy Gideon!)

Love Dave Grohl. Actually Dave is how I pictures Adrian in my mind. Another great drummer is Alex Gonzales from the Mexican
group Mana. You should check him out if you have a chance, he is truely awesome.
