Sneaky Peek at ALONE TIME

So for those who don’t know, Visits to Petal will be bonus material for each time a new Petal book comes out in print. Just a few chapters to update on characters who’ve been part of the Chase/Petal series. It’ll be at the end of the print editions and also in digital format at the Samhain site.

The first installment is called ALONE TIME and it’ll be out in early September, along with the print edition of ONCE AND AGAIN. I’m going to keep the details quiet for now – but I thought a snippet would be fun….

“Your father is full of crap. So’s mine. I’d despair at all the worthless dads in the world if it weren’t for those men who did such a great job at it like Edward Chase. I’m your man. You can’t push me away because I’m not going to let you. Because I love you. Now. I’m staying over and you can make me pancakes in the morning to thank me. That together with some loud sex tonight when we get back should pay your bill in full.”

Do you like bonus material that updates stories for characters you’ve read about in the past? Today’s prize is a digital copy of ONCE AND AGAIN. I’ll choose a winner from the comments and announce it on the next prize announcement day, Monday, March 26. It’s the winner’s responsibility to check back to see if they’ve won. Good luck!

In most cases, I like it better as bonus material rather than taking the focus off the main characters of a current book.

I think I was only burned once in that I wished I had kept my idea of their current life rather than the author’s! I usually love them.

I would love to hear the updates on past characters. I read most books over and over and it seems like I get closers to the characters that way. It would be nice to see what happens to them after the books. Your books are on my read more than once pile. I want to thank you for all of your books, it takes me away from the pain in my life when I read.

I love to read bonus material about past characters. It is like meeting up with old friends…that is one of the main reasons that I love series books because you get to hear about old characters.

You do not have to enter me in the contest as I have and LOVED “Once and Again.”

It’s hard not to like bonus materials. It’s is a nice way to update on the characters that we have grown to love in the past.

That paragraph is just… oh. my!

    Need to know more.

As for bonus material–mostly yes, with authors I trust, and it can be either as shorts (like the Sam and Alyssa short stories in some of Suzanne Brockmann’s subsequent Troubleshooters’ books) or even as part of the stories if and when they actually advance the current story.

Bottom line is, when I’ve fallen for those characters, I love seeing them *after*, living their lives together.

No need to enter me in the contest as I already own Once and Again and absolutely loved it!!!

I love bonus material as I tend to get attached to the characters in the books I read so anytime I can get an update about what they’ve been up to after the book is over is great. Makes me very happy *grins*

When I read a book, I get really involved it and am always sad when the book ends and I don’t know what else happened in the book. (Like I am dying to see what happens next in the Brown family!)

When I get these updates, it feels like a nice little treat.

I like it as long as it doesn’t take to much focus away from the main story.

I love bonus material! When I read a good book I become invested in the characters and like to know how their HEA is progressing. I’m sure that’s one of the reasons that I like series books. 😀

I not only love bonus materials, I am absolutely addicted to sequels, characters developing, starting families etc. This gives me the feeling that I am sharing the lives of friends and acquaintances and I am not the only one who is growing old;-)

I really enjoy bonus stories at the end of a novel, or online at the author’s website. It’s a nice, quick way to pass a few moments and read about favorite characters 🙂

I love checking in with characters from past books. Kind of like catching up with old friends. I know they’re not real people, but well written characters can sometimes seem like it 😉
