DAILY CONTEST #1 – WICKED ENCHANTMENT by ANYA BAST

THIS DAILY CONTEST IS CLOSED!

When you’re a half incubus, your reputation precedes you…

All eyes are on Gabriel Mac Braire the day he makes his first appearance in the Seelie Court, including those of Aislinn Finvarra. Despite deep bitterness over her last failed relationship, Aislinn cannot help but be curious about the half incubus who is known to possess dark magick, both lethal and sexual in nature. Rumors abound of the women who have become enslaved to his irresistible charms.

So when the Summer Queen of the fae orders Aislinn herself to act as his guide in the court, she is understandably on guard. She’s fallen under the spell of far less persuasive men before. In addition, Gabriel might be more than he seems and his true mission is far from innocent.

This time, Aislinn must protect not only her heart, but her very life…

QUESTION FOR DAILY CONTEST: What’s your favorite kind of heroine? Examples? A winner will be chosen at random and posted tomorrow! GOOD LUCK!!

I like independent strong heroines that know they can do it but also know when they can’t and don’t mind asking for help. One of my favorites is Eve Dallas by JD Robb, but Jayne Ann Krentz’s heroines are a good choice too.

My favorite kind of heroine is one who has been through a very rough situation and comes out stronger than before. The perfect examples are Talin and Brenna from Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series.

My favorite heroine is a smart sassy and of course kick-butt woman who stands up for herself and those she loves. Just like Anita Blake the vampire hunter.

I like my heroines to be tough and maybe a bit of a bitch on the outside but warm and caring on the inside. Smart, but not a know-it-all. The more average she comes across the better but that little something extra like a special talent or a superpower never hurts.

Most of all, I love it when a heroine is able to save the hero from danger without him feeling like any less of a man because of it and vice versa.

My favorite heroine is very independent, knows what she wants & isn’t afraid to go after it, but goes about it in a way that others think it’s their idea. She’s passionate & can be funny as well. Love Claire from the Outlander series & Eve from the In Death series.

I like the kind of woman that can antagonize the leading male and get away with it. In fact in many cases it makes them more likable, that they don’t need to hold on to someone. They usually end up with the guy, but he always knows what he is getting into.

I love strong independent heroines who are not afraid to show their feminine side, but can kick the hero(s) to kingdom come and back if need be. Examples: Eve from the In Death series, Cat in the Night Huntress series from Jeanienne Frost, Anita Blake and Merry Gentry from Laurell K Hamilton.

I like a heroine who isn’t stuck on herself. Independence is one thing, but being overly-conceited turns me off. I don’t like feeling like “why in the world does he even bother with her.” I find myself hoping he will find someone else and leave ‘miss uppity” to herself.

I like a heroine who doesn’t do stupid things nor internally whines about how she just can’t do such and such. All that does is tick me off. I like a heroine who is strong and is willing to work with the hero.

I like sassy, trusts their guts, and take action kind of heroin. She can kick butt, stand on her own but willing to lean if she needs to.

I loved Lizzie Fox who was a lawyer for some of the Sisterhood girls that Nora Roberts wrote on Sisterhood series.
There are others but she is the one I just read couple of books in which she was featured.

I love a strong heroine. She doesn’t have to be the typical physical, kick-ass chick that you see a lot in urban fantasy, but she does have to be strong-willed and intelligent. My pet peeves in heroines: hypocrisy, whining, laziness, boy-craziness, making obviously stupid mistakes, and a complete unwillingness to admit when she’s wrong.

I like heroines who are independent and sure of themselves; they don’t depend on anyone but themselves and yet can be depended on by family and those few close friends they have. The last such heroine I read of like this is Shahara in ‘Born of Fire’ by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

    Hi Lauren!
Lately I’ve been enjoying some heroines that have been strong in the sense of being equal with the hero. I’ve seen like the personalities of those heroines in urban fantasy, more into the paranormals now. I like to see those strong traits, such as being independent and too, just as strong as some are (but not super strong that it doesn’t seem realistic). Its just been refreshing to really read more of a new heroine for me.

I like a heroine who is smart, strong and independent. She knows who she is and whats she wants. She doesn’t need a man to solve her problems, give her money but he can be there to scratch an itch when needed, if you know what I mean! 😉

I like a heroine that comes in and makes you hear melt at the end of the day one that can make everyone happy as well as themselves and puts a smile on your face and at the sametime can put someone in there place when need be and satisfy your every sexual need. I love Kate pearces heroines in her books.

I love a rough-and-tough heroine who can take care of herself, and can hang with the boys, particularly if she doesn’t look the part (i.e. feminine, petite, etc). I especially like it if she’s not too stupid to know a good thing when he gives her hormones a wake-up call.
I LOVED Anite Blake at the beginning of her series (these days, eh, not so much…) and I still think Merry Gentry is great!

Wonderful contest! Love the cross promotion too.

A kick ass heroine is my favorite kind! She can be tough as nails but needs to have heart and compassion too. She cares about people but doesn’t depend on them for her own welfare. Superwoman! (aka – a mom!)
