T.J. Michaels is back again with her exciting third installment in the Vampire Council of Ethics series. Although, this book can be read independently, I would suggest reading the previous two novels in order to gain a better understanding of the historical events mentioned in Hatsept Heat. I was very impressed by how Ms. Michaels was able to insert just the right amount of vulnerability into Shinju’s personality but, didn’t allow it to become overbearing or allow it to take away from the storyline. Kenoe was a true alpha male who was used to having his way without being questioned or denied, however, he learned the hard way that Shinju wasn’t going to fall in line just because he told her to do so. I just couldn’t get enough of this couple. I simply had to keep reading until I discovered just how everything was going to pan out. Readers, you will not be disappointed with this thrilling, mysterious, super-hot plot. Hats off to Ms. Michaels for writing yet another spectacular novel!

I don’t really go by covers because honestly I don’t pay much attention to them unless they are very bad or very good, I usually read the blurb or a friend will tell me I have to try so and so

What helps me get into a new author would have to be genre and reviews by other authors.

Blurbs and reviews such as RT mag or Amazon website, the excerpts found, recommendations from friends; very seldom do I pick a book by it’s cover

First, I go to a genre I like, then I read the blurbs and excerpts, and lastly I check out the cover. Then I decide to buy or not to buy.

Friends recommendation and blurbs. If a friend recommends it, the first thing I do is read the blurb. If I see a blurb that interests me, I will ask friends about that author.

I will try a new author if I see they have great reviews around the blog circuit and the jacket copy intrigues me.

I usually buy my books on Amazon. First I sort by genre. If a book cover catches my eye, I will first look for book reviews from us regular folk. lol
If there are no book reviews, if the story description looks good, I may take a chance. I know that you are not supposed to judge a book by the cover but I am so guilty.
I have been disappointed many a time just going by the cover but alas, it still is the cover that peaks my interest.
I have to add though, when I read the book reviews. I am pretty good at judging if it is a negative review that their reason for the negative review may not be the same reason I would not like it. So on that alone, I dont just measure the star rating.

I usually choose to try another author based on excerpts or someone’s recommendation. However, I will not lie, I will frequently pick up books based on what the covers look like.

Pretty much all of the above can factor into my trying a new author. Sometimes, a cover can draw me across the store and then after reading the back…I buy. Sometimes, if I hear really good reviews about a book and the buzz is all good…then I try. Plus, I love just about anything to do with urban fantasy/paranormal.

Well, it can be any of those things…basically something to catch my attention & think “I need to check this out further…” then from there I either buy it, add it to the infamous list or decide it isn’t for me after all. This cover would definitely snag my attention and make me to a couple of steps back to get a better look…that is one hot looking hero…!!!

I agree with the others. Most of the time I will pick up books based on the book blurb or if the cover really catches my eye.
