Today’s prize via the fabulous Cynthia Eden: Belong to the Night—Autographed ARC, Cover flat, and “Dream” bookmark (perfect to help with your reading fun!)

BELONG TO THE NIGHT…

Wanna know where the real wild things are…and what they like to do there?

This paranormal anthology (due out in September of 09 from Kensington Brava) features three sexy tales:

“The Wolf, The Witch, and Her Lack of Wardrobe” by Shelly Laurenston:

Jamie Meacham has enough trouble controlling her supernatural abilities. There’s no time for lust, or for Tully Smith, even with his smoldering amber eyes. But Tully’s grappling with his own animal instincts as a powerful shifter-wolf, trying to protect all his territory-including a certain sassy witch-from vicious rivals.

“In the Dark” by Cynthia Eden:

FBI agent and leopard shifter Sadie James’ undead ex, Liam, still arouses her deepest desires, distracting her from tracking the brutal rogue shifter who is terrorizing Miami. By teaming up with Liam, Sadie has a better chance of solving the case, but as passion consumes them, she stands to lose more than just her heart.

“City of the Dead” by Sherrill Quinn:

Dori Falcon is a witch with a plan: get to New Orleans, locate her missing brother, and recover the Eye of Bastet, a mysterious and powerful amulet. Her plan never included falling for sexy Cajun copy Jake Boudreau; but without his help, she may never find the demon who has her brother, and the key to her family’s survival.

***

But why wait until September to read the anthology? Thanks to Lauren’s contest, you can win an ARC of this anthology right now. And the flair that goes with the ARC? A “Dream” bookmark with the Henry David Thoreau quote of: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” Come on, book readers have to love bookmarks, right?

And here’s a peek at “In the Dark” (hope you enjoy the peek!):

Her dead lover stood on the other side of the bar, rubbing his hand against the back of some long-legged redhead and looking very much alive.

Sadie James drew in a deep breath. Caught the scent of smoke. Expensive perfume. Sweat.

I went to that jerk’s funeral. Cried over his grave. A grave he didn’t seem to be occupying.

She’d even taken flowers to the graveside.

The redhead laughed. Tossed back her head. The man turned, braced his hand against the wall behind her head and leaned in even closer to her.

Rage had Sadie’s back teeth grinding together.

She stalked across the bar, elbowing dancing men and women out of her way. Her fingers curled, and a hard fury tightened her body.

Two years. For two damn years she’d thought he was dead. While he was out there screwing redheads. Redheads who wore really trashy pink dresses.

He was bent over the woman now. His mouth poised over her throat.

Sadie was going to rip the bastard apart.

The redhead laughed. A high, tipsy giggle.

Sadie growled.

And even though she was still at least ten feet away, and the music blaring from the band jumping on stage was ear-splitting loud, Liam Sullivan stiffened. His dark head snapped up. He spun around, scanning the crowd.

His eyes, too damn blue and bright for a dead man, locked on her. She saw his stare widen and his lips began to curve into a smile—

A smile she’d knock off his still too-handsome face. “Liam.”

***

Now, to win this prize…just tell me what you dream about—go ahead, do it! Tell me your favorite dream. (And I hope all those in the U.S. had a great 4th of July!)

A winner will be chosen from the comments at noon pacific, tomorrow, July 6!

    Hi! Excerpt sounds great!
I usually have bad dreams – like I’m still at university and haven’t passed all the exams I was suppose to and I won’t graduate. But sometimes I have beautiful dreams of vacations and sandy beaches 🙂 Don’t know what this means
    😉

I usually find my self dreaming the impossible, the perfect man!!!!! Impossible but still my favourite dream, we go hiking and on picnics and have lots of fun and adventures together.

I also dream about day to day stuff and then i have something similar happen and i get this massive dejavu vibe. Which totally freaks my friends out, but i love it!!!! 😆

I wish I could…but I rarely remember my dreams. Sometimes I remember an overall feeling like it was happy or sad but exact details rarely stay with me. 😕

I am with Michelle on this one, I rarely remember my dreams. If I have a really bad dream, like one that wakes me up because I am crying, then I can remember most of it. Occassionally I will have a feeling that I have had a good or bad dream, but not the details.

I usually dream about having super powers or saving someone. My mom says I have a hero complex. My dreams are always weird. Don’t know if I have a favorite dream because they all have a similar feel to them.

I also rarely remember dreams. When I do it’s really strange stuff. Totally unrelated to anything. Or feelings. Infact I just woke up from a nap and have vague memories of writing a review via email….I’d write the first bit, send it off….write another bit….send it off, then didn’t want to write anymore, but I had to.

When I woke up I was thinking….I really have to finish that review….but to whom? About what? I was very confused. Then I realised, I must have been dreaming….ha!!!

Anymore, I really don’t remember dreams. Sometimes I’ll remember vague details but as the day goes on, the more of the details I once remember goes blank. I miss the really clear and ethreal dreams I use to have eight years ago, the ones I use to write too.

I generally don’t remember my dreams. 🙁 When I do, it’s one of those falling and falling or worrying over work dreams. Blech.

My dreams don’t stay around. I can remember a nightmare if it wakes me up, but otherwise I don’t know what I dream about.

Unfortunately I don’t remember good dreams, only the weird or disturbing ones. After watching Dexter on tv I always dream I’m being killed by a serial killer. I’m super odd, what can I say.

Any dream I actually remember is guaranteed to be weird. Although one dream (another of those weird ones), I’ve actually turned into quite an interesting story. That would certainly be my favorite. Seth with his green eyes…. Yeah, that one stuck with me. 😀

I can usually remember that I dreamed but not precisely what I dreamed about. It stays around more in images and feelings. Which means I sometimes wake up grumpy without knowing why. Nice, huh?

I dream all the time! Mostly weird things that do not make any sense. I also dream in sequence. In the mornings when I get up to use the bathroom, I will lay back down and the dream will start off where I left it. I can usually remember most of it for a few days.

Lately I have been having these crazy dreams about my husband’s family. In them we have been taking these family vacations…his brothers, their wives, his parents, the kids. And I love them all, but I feel like I am trapped with them. How bad is that?? Maybe they will improve here in the coming days 🙂

    Thanks!

What a wonderful excerpt and prize! Thank you Lauren and Cynthia!

I dream about the ocean often, sitting at the edge watching the waves, sailboats and swimmers. I love the beach, so maybe that is why?

    Thanks Agan Lauren!

One of my happiest dreams happened several months after my Dad died. We were at a fair/car show (no clue why there!) and I was with my niece and I spotted my Dad. He was walking away from me and I went into a panic because I wanted to see him. I followed him and he kept walking. He tripped on something and went down but got right back up and looked at me and shrugged as if to say he was ok. I kept following him and eventually got only close enough to reach out to him and then he was gone.

For me, I think of it as his way of coming back to let me know that he was really ok and that I shouldn’t worry or cry anymore, he really was ok! As strange as the dream was it was a happy dream and it gave me such a sense of peace!!

When I was young I used to dream conversations that made no sense. Some time later I would be somewhere and people would be talking and here come those conversations. It happened so often that I used to think that if I wanted something to happen all I had to do was dream it. It didn’t work that way and as I got older I quit listening to my dreams.

When everything gets to be too much, I love to take a few minutes to daydream that I have won the current lottery and exactly what I would do with it. It changes from time to time and gives me some insight into who I am and where I am at in my life…

I have no idea what I dream about – I just don’t remember them. Maybe it is because I don’t want to remember them. When I was little I use to dream about snakes all the time – it the point I would wake up screaming.
Now daydreaming is a completely different thing.

Nightime dreams I don’t usually remember but I daydream ALOT. One of my favorite day dreams is my girlfriends and I escaping our husbands and kids and renting a yacht and cruise around the Caribbean for a week laughing and shopping at the different ports. No worries, just fun in the sun with some really great friends.

I don’t remember alot of my dreams, Lauren. I remember when I have nightmares, and they usually include snakes and not being able to scream for help, but truly don’t remember my dreams unless I think about them soon after I wake up. Weird, huh?

Ooo, the excerpt is lovely. Your writing is so good!

I don’t usually remember my dreams, but when I was a child I had constant dreams of riding on a train. It was odd, because I’d never been on one and had no special desire to do so. Now I’m wondering if I worked on a train in a past life.

I don’t usually remember my dreams. But I do dream about a lot of things. And sometimes more than once: e.g. I’ve had this weird dream about dinosaurs attacking my hometown (when I was dreaming this the second time, all I was thinking was “I’ve had this dream before, I know what is going to happen”).

I dream about a secluded place… a beautiful, breath taking refuge to take my husband.

I want the nearest civilization to be miles upon miles away.

Relishing in my husband and taking time to explore all of him and him me…. without kids around, without an alarm clock… without life’s daily hassles. Heck, without any ears of any kind except wildlife.

I dream of a place and time where there is no time… where daylight turns to moonlight and back again and I dont care if I have not had a substantial meal.

My husband told me the other night that I better watch out when he gets me alone and no one is around to hear anything…. yikes, fear and excitement.

    I dream of my husband!!!
