thankful

Yesterday was a day I’d like to never repeat. thankyouverymuch universe.

But as I was trying to fall asleep I thougth about how, even on grumpy days, it’s nice to bring something postive to the fore before you end the day. So while I have had zero time to read this week, I can always fit in a bit of time to be thankful for what I’ve had and what I continue to have.

So today’s post is about being thankful, even in the face of chaos.

I’ve got a lifetime’s worth of memories with my husband and now with our children. Each day, even on crazy days, more get added. I remember right after I had our second child, my dude had some leave time and we’d all wake up in the morning and I’d have a cup of tea, prepared by my lovely husband, while my oldest ate his breakfast and I nursed the baby. I’d sit in the glider and rock slowly, looking over my house of men with the weight of a tiny fist resting on my chest as the baby nursed.

I look at them now and they’re far past the point where they fit in the crook of my arm and happily snuggled into me all day long. But I can still feel the whisper of that tiny fist, right above my heart.

Oh Lauren, you made my heart smile with your lovely post. It’s those quiet times of motherhood that ground me the most about what’s important. Here’s to more magical memory days to get us through the crazies of life. Hope today is a better day for you and yours.

{{{Lauren}}} What a great post. I look at my girls, especially my soon to be 18 year old, and wonder where the time has gone. I could have sworn it was just yesterday that I had her and was on my way home from the hospital with her. I still remember waking up from a nap that first day to find my mother letting her take a couple licks from her ice cream cone and now she’s a beautiful young lady, ready to head off to college. I’m soo not ready!

I love your post, Lauren. While I don’t have any children of my own, I have very nice memories of holding my nieces and nephews (ranging from 4 to 9) when they were babies. I try to always be thankful that I’ve been able to watch them grow and look forward to the time when I get to watch my own.

I guess I’m thankful you had a day on Friday that prompted this post. Really lovely and thanks for reminding me that even in the fact of those “please don’t make me repeat them” days, there are myriad reasons to be thankful. Hugs sweetie!
