I’m over at Sven talking about Getting Through!

I’ll also be at Writerspace at 6 pm pacific/9 eastern at the Berkley/Jove chat so come on over and say hey!

My husband, wonderful man that he is, got me a new iPod classic to replace my old iPod classic that died a few months back. This makes me sooo happy. Also, dewds, it’s 160gigs! That’s like eleventy billion songs. I like that even though I’ll never in a million years use them all. I’m a total music hoor with an iTunes addiction and I’ll still never fill it up. This pleases me. My husband is made of shiny.

I finished up my holiday shopping for many people who need to be shipped to and I was at the post office for nearly an hour today. Listen folks, the people who work at the post office don’t set the prices nor do they make the rules. Don’t be a bunch of d-bags and yell at them. You’re all on Santa’s bag of shit list okay? How hard is it to be nice to people who are treated like crap by the public all day? Jeebus. I still have some more things to mail because “Hi, my name is Lauren and I left an entire tote bag of envelopes at home today” even though I had two others and a box too.

It’s also very cold here all the sudden. Like the temp has dropped 15 degrees since this morning. BRRRR. We’re expecting a snowpocalypse this weekend – by that I mean Seattle and the burbs will get just enough to freeze all the hills and the people who moved here from FLAT and snowy places will start talking about how back in Buffalo or wherever they always drove in the snow and how we’re all morons. And well, yes, we are when it snows – but I’m betting even people in Buffalo are smart enough not to drive down a 20% grade hill with a 2 inch sheet of ice. It isn’t flat here and the infrastructure isn’t built for snow so chill out and enjoy it like everyone else does. Stay home, make a snowman and don’t try to take Lake Samamish Parkway and get stuck so I can shake my head at you when I see you on the news. I’m gonna be home, snuggled up with the christmas lights on watching movies and drinking tea. I’ll let the kids run outside and when they come in I’ll dry em off, give em hot chocolate and enjoy the day.

I’m seeing a lot of negativity out there, a lot of people saying things they shouldn’t, people yelling at each other and complaining about stuff. Chill. Times are stressful, publishing seems scary, people are worried about jobs and money and the future but yelling at the postal service lady, or attacking other authors on your blog or whatever, isn’t going to solve any of that.

I’m off to pick up the boys in the school drive through pick up of doom!

I wish everyone could just relax and put their feet up for a few minutes—really helps to destress one.

1 freakin 60 gigs?? Seriously? Holy shit. Sign me up.

I couldn’t agree more with you about the poor folks working at the post office. I can’t count the number of times I’ve said to my kids “Please and thank you go a really long way, and they’re really quick to say.” Geez, it’s not that tough.

To reset the mindsets about “Southern” post offices…..gotta share a funny tidbit.

I live in N Florida. Was born and raised though in DC.

Was standing in line LAST Christmas at our NEWEST postal facility and kept hearing a rooster crow.

Now with things out there like the Billy the big mouth singing bass….I just assumed (Stupid city girl that I am) that it was some gag gift.

It did it again. This time it sounded in multiple crows. I glanced at the lady behind me…who also had raised eyebrows and a questionable look on her face.

When I finally made it to the counter, I heard it again…and much more loud.

The clerk noticed my amused and confused look.

She gently pulled a cage into my view. A cage filled with chickens a roosters.

Yup! They were being mailed USPS first class.

    People…You can mail Chickens!

Not sure if they get in flight meals though.
    Forgot to ask.

    😀
