BTW, I say Dream Man but I meant Mr. Perfect!
Two of my friends have really wonderful books coming out at the end of this month – Cynthia Eden has Everlasting Bad Boys releasing on August 26 (an antho with Cynthia, Noelle Mack and Shelly Laurenston) and Ann Aguirre has Wanderlust, the follow up to Grimspace, also coming out on August 26!
In honor of that, I’m going to choose two winners, one to win a copy of Wanderlust and one to win a copy of Everlasting Bad Boys. I’ll have the copies pre-ordered to ship direct from Amazon.
ATTN: here are the rules! I recommend Brenda Joyce de Warenne Dynasty….I also recommend Lisa Kleypas Bow Street Runner series-these two have tons of rakes. I love Lisa because her writing takes me places and the men are great alpha men 😀 As for Brenda-any of her period pieces will work. 😛 The men are hot and the romance is NAUGHTY!!!!!! 😈

OH.. you tropes/storylines.
I love the tortured/angst hero.. alpha or beta. Just finished Suzanne Brockmann’s Into the Fire with Vinh Murphy as the hero. Poor guy has fallen off the grid after his wife was murdered several books earlier. He is tortured and running away from the past but still a hero under there.
From your description of Anne Stuart’s book Moonrise, I found it used and purchased it.

Due out 10/7 Mercury from ‘Mercury’s War’ by Lora Leigh. His mate is dead & he thinks he has no chance at a HEA. I can’t wait. It was suppose to originally come out in September but got pushed back.

I love the bad boys and reformed rakes. I don’t read a lot of historicals, but I’ve hung in there with Stephanie’s, Cynster’s and Basitan Club stories. And I’m like you about the historical accuracy, while I totally appreciate the research that an author will put into her story, it’s not why I pick one up. For contemporary bad boys, I read Tara Janzen’s Steele street boys and Shannon McKenna’s McCloud brothers. I can’t say I love everyone of their books, but I do love their men.

I really like books with tons of angst and a tortured hero. An old favorite is Seize the Fire by Laura Kinsale.

I can’t believe nobody mentioned Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory novels! The Regency era rakes in those novels, wow. Well, you can’t get any rakier(if that is a word???)than pirates like James Mallory, I loved him! For contemporary, Lori Foster writes a lot of cop heros/bad boys too, and she can heat up the pages for sure!BTW, Lauren, I love balls too, both kinds, lol.

I am a big fan of vampire stories…I ofcourse love J.R. Wards books. An absolutely great book I read was A Rush of Wings by Adrian Phoenix…this is wonderful.
I loved Linda Howard’s Mackenzie series…you just cannot go wrong with those strong sexy men.

I am also a huge fan of books that are connected like Jude Deveraux’s Montgomerys and I just got my copies of the Chase Brothers and can hardly wait to get started.

Sorry I was confused about your contest. For heroes that are Rakes/Cops, I have a few! Nicole Jordan has some awesome Rakes, especially with her Notorious Series. You’ll be reading too about one of the strongest Rakes of that series, Dare, through all the books til you get to his story with PRINCE OF PLEASURE. Too for historical romance rakes, I’m presently reading Jillian Hunter and her Bocastle series. I’ve read the first two books so far and now I’m on the third book, but another author I discovered from going to a chat and missing her books.
For cops, I think of contemps, but there are a few with like the Bow Street Runner series of Lisa Kleypas in historical where the heros were Bow Hunters, which is inspectors/cops in historical romances.
For some cop contemp stories, some single titles that I read and recommend: DREAM MAN by Linda Howard (whew, sizzle and a tortured soul hero), KNOCK ME OFF MY FEET by Susan Donovan (She has alot of good books, and too some has great humor with sizzle), and in Jenna McKnight’s recent book WITCH IN THE HOUSE, the hero is a PI. I just saw it on the store shelves the other day and reminded me to go find out when the next book is out!
I love chatting about these themes. I love getting the recommendations and talking about what I loved reading too. Hope this helped!
