Angie sent me a link to something she created, which made me giggle. She took this pic of me, or someone at Samhain did, at the RT booksigning in April. Anyway, I made the one above of Megan and I last night because she and I sold a book. A book we came up with at RT while standing in line as a matter of fact. I comes out in October of 08, which is verrrrry fast and very exciting. I can’t say for who yet, there’s one last detail to get in place but we have a title and we have a pub date and an editor and it’s all very cool.

Also, did you know the amazingly fabulous Anya Bast has a shiny new website? She totally does and it’s gorgeous! Go and oooh and aaah over it! She’s also running a contest at the Maverick author blog to win some fab books so get on over there to check it out!

Speaking of contests… head on over to the Bradford Bunch Blog - I’m doing round two of the To Do List contest!

And last but not least at all - the pub date for Battlefront is December 08! I’m so thrilled! WHHEEE! It’s not going to be called Battlefront (and in all honesty, I didn’t expect it to be, I rarely get to keep my titles, LOL) so I’ll get you the final title soon along with the back cover copy that is so made of awesome I actually squeed with joy when I read it. Leis Pederson, my editor, is so shiny with the blurbage, I’m totally happy with it!

That’s about it for now. I haven’t done much reading this last week to be honest. But I did reac 80K in notBattlefront last night and I’m heading into the home stretch. Whooo.

Thirteen Favorite Moments

Thirteen Favorite Moments

In No Particular Order!

1. The birth of my first child. Long story short, it was scary but he was fine and my life forever changed in that moment.

2. Meeting my husband for the first time. Okay so I walked into his house (I knew one of his roomates) clapped eyes on him and two months later we had our own apartment and we just celebrated twenty-one years together. He’s been the best thing in my life.

3. When I found out I was pregnant with our third child. My entire life and plans went cattywompus.

4. Deciding to “give that writing thing a chance” when I was on bed rest with a high risk pregnancy of said third child.

5. Having child number two after a seriously high needs infant. I wasn’t sure I could do it again. I was terrified of having the same experience but he was such a sweet baby. He slept so well and didn’t turn into a hell child until he turned about 17 months or so, LOL.

6. Selling Triad to Ellora’s Cave. My first book and it was huge for me in so many ways. My life changed and I had no idea how much until I looked back a few years later.

7. Getting an email from this stranger named Laura Bradford. She’d read Triad and had this literary agency and did I want to talk? I gained an excellent agent who believes in me and a wonderful friend.

8. Signing up at livejournal. At livejournal I met Anya Bast. I read her stuff and was like, WOW!~ Then through her and some other writer type folks, I met Megan Hart. We knew each other online a bit and I picked Megan up from the airport for a conference here in Seattle. I’m a lucky chick to have such fab friends.

9. My first day of college. Actually all four years, but it was such a magical moment, important, life changing.

10. My graduation from law school.

11. Selling Stripped to Harlequin Spice - I really began to believe it might just actually happen. It was enough to get me through the next ten months of being rejected over and over in NY.

12. Selling Battlefront to Berkley Heat - a deal for a book that’s mine. Mine to make a success of or not.

13. Sending Giving Chase to Samhain. I’ve been so blessed to write there. I tried a new thing with contemporary romantic suspense and it worked. They took a chance on me and I on them and I’ve got a great publisher, a great editor and it’s made me a better writer.

There are other things like getting my first fan mail - but every time it happens I’m still as thrilled! May 11, 2005 when Triad released. When my dad beat his cancer. My first RT. My first booksigning. The first day of school for kiddo #1 and #2. My first wedding anniversary. My wedding day. The Grateful Dead/Bob Dylan show in summer of 87. The first campaign my husband and I worked on. The day we moved into our house. Driving into Washington state the first time. I’ve had a very blessed life so far.

Hump Day

Good gracious it’s nearly 5pm! What a day it’s been. My email box has been jumping, I’ve done some writing, I’ve spoken with my agent several times (wheee!), IMd with Megan while watching amateur porn that made me laugh and laugh (mainly because we sort of did a live commentary and ended up saying the same thing three quarters of the time). Did dishes, looked for an item of clothing my son HAS to have but doesn’t know the location of (sigh), dealt with a very grumpy 3 year old and I looked up and saw it was nearly five!

So this will be short, the kids have lost a DVD that will probably cost five hundred dollars to replace and I need to make dinner too. I just wanted to pop in and say hello and remind you all that Shelley Munro has a new release out from Ellora’s Cave today called Last Wish! Go and grab it. Shelley’s fabulous!

Tuesday Mailbag

Oh my email makes me smile. First, a nice girl, Judee is her name, assures me she’s sad because she has so many lovely pictures of herself to share with me if only I’d email her back! Isn’t that nice?

Another fine young man has graduated from business school and wishes to be my personal assistant! And guess what? He’s also recently come into a huge amount of money and if I just help him by sending him the exact amount in US dollars, he’ll transfer it back to me. What a good boy. His mother must be proud.

Cornell has something exciting to tell me about these pills he took that enlarged his genitalia! Now he’s a total rock star in bed and he can do the same for me and my very small penis.

The real stuff though - awesome with sprinkles. Thanks so much to every one of who who takes the time to write me about my books, I appreciate it so much and it truly makes my day.

I also get books and funny pictures and delete the loop flotsam that makes me wonder why people don’t seem to get the idea that just because we write erotic romance doesn’t mean we shouldn’t remember that not all subjects are appropriate at any old time (and some, my darlings, some - NEVER).

By the way, I’m at 73K words in Battlefront. SQUEEEE!

So for a while because Megan, Anya and I had been ridiculously busy, we let the Maverick Authors slip a bit but we’ve got a brand new blog up, design courtesy Dreamforge Media (with a lovely helping of some technical stuff from Frauke who is also making me all sorts of shiny things I can’t wait to show you all)

I have some really exciting news but I can’t share it just yet…

BTW - did you all know my buddy Megan Hart (some might even say BFF) has a new release out from Spice? Well she does! It’s a very sexy short called This Is What I Want and you can grab it right now right through this here link!

This is what I want

Also, Lacy Danes has a Brief as well! Hers is called “The Invitation”

Blurb:
Since she could pick up a pencil, Belle Taylor has used lists and charts to map out her life. When she achieves a goal, she marks it off her to do list. Simple. But now, just steps away from her corner-office, name-on-the-letterhead goal, she realizes that the life she thought she wanted may come at too high a price.

Exhausted, she retreats home for Christmas vacation to rethink her life, complete with all-new lists. What she hadn’t expected is Rafe Bettencourt, her brother’s best friend, the man who she thought only saw her as a pesky younger sister. But when he kisses her under the mistletoe, Belle finds herself with a whole new set of goals to balance with what she thought she always wanted.

Rafe knows Belle is trying to figure out what to do with her life. He also knows he’s done loving her from afar, and he’s not beneath making it as hard as possible for her to choose to return to San Francisco.

Because Rafe can make to-do lists too—and his plan is to seduce Belle back home where she belongs. At his side. And in his bed.

He heard her muttering and tapped on her door. When she opened it, she stood there tousled and holding a legal pad and three different colored pens.

“Hi.”

“Hi there. You want to come in?” She stood back and he took the bottle of tequila and the shot glasses in with him.

“You look stressed. I say we do a few shots, make out a lot, you let me get to, oh say third base and we call it a night.”

Her brow furrowed and the cutest little line etched between her eyes. “Really?”

“Belle Taylor, I know you’re not offended. You get a totally different look on your face when you’re offended. Why are you confused?” He put the bottle and glasses down before tossing himself on the bed.

She put the pad on the desk on the far side of the room and lined her pens up, horizontally, one by one, in a neat and orderly row. Then she exhaled and pursed the lips he knew tasted like heaven.

“I’m confused because you’ve always treated me like Brian’s pesky little sister and tonight out of the blue you kiss me and then tease me and talk about sex and show up in my room and suggest third base!”

“I did indeed. I’d suggest more but I want to drag that out. At least for another day or so.” He laughed, loving the way she snorted at him.

“I could use a drink. Move over. Jeez, you’re a bed hog.” She smoothed out the blankets before she sat. “What? No salt or lime?”

“If I had it, you could lick it off my belly.” Wait, that wasn’t a tease, that sounded just fine to him as a matter of fact.

“Well do you?” One of her regal eyebrows slid upward and her mouth struggled against a smile.

He sat up and filled both glasses with the tawny liquid. “Go on, you first. God knows you look like you could use it.” He could too after her little tease.

She took the glass and drained it, her eyes watering a bit as she wiped her mouth on the back of her hand very characteristically.

“Belle Taylor, did you just wipe tequila off your mouth with the back of your hand like, oh I don’t know, like me?” He laughed before doing the same thing and refilling their glasses.

“When does the kissing start?” Her eyes widened and she quickly drained the next shot. “Crap, I can’t even blame that on the alcohol yet.”

“You want another?”

“Why not?”
