I had a review of Jaci Burton’s Riding Wild ready to go up today but I just received my author copies of Cascadia Wolves: Wolf Unbound so I thought I’d do a contest for some ARCs and put up the review tomorrow.
Work for you?
Okay here’s the deal: I’ll choose a winner from the commenters on this post at 7 pm pacific/10 eastern tonight, December 29.
All I need is why you like any or all of the elements in the book – romance, paranormals, erotic romance, werewolves, shifters, BDSM or heck, even this particular series.
That’s it. I’ll choose at least one winner later today. Good luck everyone!

First off, I love shifter stories, especially wolves. I for one like the idea that there is someone out there that will be by my side forever if I find him. Second, BDSM to me shows a level of trust, honesty, devotion and love that is in general sadly lacking in today’s society. And to me there is nothing like a touching love story, with strong characters and engaging plot combined with the smokin’ HAWT sexplay your well-known for.
by Bonnie Rose Leigh December 29th, 2007 at 3:08 pmLove paranormals as an escape from day to day life. Love shifters (the whole idea that someone can change into another animal). Also love the Cascadia Wolves, because its a great series.
Jessi
by jessi December 29th, 2007 at 3:09 pmWhy do I love the elements? Well, paranormal allows more possibilities for connections between the h/h and depending on the type/powers, it intensifies the heat between them.
Erotic romance to me, is a much hotter, more interesting read for me. I find my tastes do not run to the vanilla, as will be evidenced by my next element comment.
BDSM…it’s something I fantasize about and reading it in a romance is a safe way for me to enjoy it. So hot. Something about it takes me to the next level.
by Cindy December 29th, 2007 at 3:10 pmOooh and I found one bunny!
by Cindy December 29th, 2007 at 3:12 pmHmmmm – I love the dichotomy of shifters. The mix of the more cerebral human and the more instinctive animal. I like to see how the authors mix the two and come out with a whole being in which they coexist.
And, of course, I love your stories :)
by Maura December 29th, 2007 at 3:15 pmI love all paranormal, shifter books. What a lovely trip into escapism.
by Estella December 29th, 2007 at 3:23 pmI have a special love of my furies. I love shifters. The loyality, the alpha male what isn’t there to love there. but after reading witches knot the third i could be brought over to the vamp side. Holly was one lucky lady!!
by tina brunelle December 29th, 2007 at 3:24 pmI love to imagine that shifters really do exist and who’s to say they don’t since they like to keep private.
As for BDSM, not everyone enjoys the give and take of control but I find it very exciting. You have to trust your partner to the upmost and that trust deepens the relationship.
I’m so happy to see that the next installment of Cascadia Wolves is due soon.
by Jan December 29th, 2007 at 3:26 pmI love shapeshifters and werewolves because I love animals and it is so awesome to think of people with the power to change their shape. I love your books. I like this series particularly because it is so different from real life and it is part of my favorite genre: paranormal. Happy Holidays!
by Caitlin Hoy December 29th, 2007 at 3:30 pmCaitlin
ohh wanted to add, one of the nice things bout paranormals is, your charactors can have 1. more conflict cause they can have that internal conflict of when is my power used for good when is it used for evil? and what happens should either go too far. and it is the internal conflict that makes the charactor more real. you feel connected to them and want them suceed.
by tina brunelle December 29th, 2007 at 3:34 pmbummer this is one of the series I dont have. So I’m looking into getting them. How many do you have or is going to have in this series?? icia
by icia December 29th, 2007 at 3:44 pmI Love vampires, weres, time travel and ghosts. The most important part of the book is how well it’s written. Nothing is worse than a poorly written, shallow plotted book.
by Mina Gerhart December 29th, 2007 at 3:47 pmhmmm…lets see, I love paranormal because I want an escape from reality, I get enough of the normal in real life, I don’t want it in my books. I love Shapeshifters and Vampires because they are just HOOOOOOTTTTT!!! The strong alpha male, dark, brooding, lonely for someone to complete them. *shiver* what’s not to like.
by Hayley December 29th, 2007 at 3:51 pmi like dirty hot sex!!!!! And Contemp and Vampires. Not a fan of much else.
by Heather December 29th, 2007 at 4:00 pmI love all of those elements, seperately, but together is definitely a personal favorite. And it just works so well in your stories is why I love this series so much.
by Cathy M December 29th, 2007 at 4:11 pmWell, as for paranormal in general, especially shifters, one of the main reasons why I really enjoy it is that it’s different from our daily life, after all I don’t think my man will change into a wolf tomorrow for example
BDSM can also be great in books since it’s not something I would do in real life but it turns me on while I’m reading though.
by Sarah Piché-Choquette December 29th, 2007 at 4:13 pmOoh, all those elements make for a great read, especially if it involves shifters who are into BDSM. There needs to be trust established for both of those, loving a dominate shifter takes a special heroine (or hero
).
by Mary Ann Williams December 29th, 2007 at 4:29 pmI love shifter romances. You have the best of the best in this type of book.
The shifter hero is like the alpha heroes of years ago. Usually totally devoted to the heroine and totally loyal to his family.
by Chris Roberts December 29th, 2007 at 4:30 pmAs an author of paranormals myself, I love the flexibility of the characters. I like shifters who angst about loving humans and the humans who think they are nuts to be involved with someone who sheds!
by Marilu Mann December 29th, 2007 at 4:41 pmI love paranormal elements because it encompasses werewolves, vamps, other types of shifters, witches and etc. The stories usually have lots of romantic suspense too. And let’s not forget some major Alpha heroes.
by Ayreann December 29th, 2007 at 5:01 pmI like all those elements in books. Love wolf books because of the alpha heroes. I also love this series. It is so good! Congrats on the new release!
by Amy S. December 29th, 2007 at 5:15 pmDon’t enter me, but the werewolf mafia? Hilarious! That’s what sold me on the series. Of course the hot sexx is good too.
by Charlene December 29th, 2007 at 5:19 pmI have always loved paranormal stories and began reading everything that I could get my hands on in grade school. Adding romance to them was just perfect for me. Vampires, shifters, ghosts and demons (the good ones) lend an air of mystery that ties it together. Erotica and BDSM (lite for me) is relatively new (around 2 years) for my reading but I find that I enjoy the details the the less graphic stories leave to the imagination.
by Connie Northrop December 29th, 2007 at 5:27 pmsanta Bunz lol! LOVE the preface of this book hon TONS of good reviews coming I am sure HUGS!
by Jaycee December 29th, 2007 at 5:46 pmI enjoy see the twists, turns, humor, intrigue, mystery, excitement, that hold me captive waiting and wondering what’s next. I especially like it when I get “emotionally” pulled into the story lines; tears, laughter, anger.
I enjoy the moments that I set aside to read – its my time. It’s an appointment that I keep…kind of like ladies getting their hair or nails done religiously. That’s me and the stories that capture my attention.
Mona
by Mona December 29th, 2007 at 6:00 pmi love the shifter stories -esp ones about werewolves. love BDSM-i love how you write your stories. I read some about pararomances which didnt work and yours definately do
Esp how you weave the tri bond into the stories and explain it. I love it sooo much
keep up the awesome job!
by april symes December 29th, 2007 at 6:07 pmI’ve only been reading paranormals for a couple of years but really enjoy them. Love the way you can get totally into the story as you’re reading. And the alpha hero’s are another reason to read paranormals. They are so yummy.
Congrats on the upcoming release. Oh, and I found a bunny.
by Shelly A December 29th, 2007 at 6:11 pmI love paranormals. Especially the vamps and shifters. I also like bdsm if it’s done right. I guess the reason I like paranormals though is because you can really let your imagination run wild with them.
by Glenna Day December 29th, 2007 at 6:18 pmI love BDSM!!! Will read it in any form. Erotic romance is my favorite. I’m just starting to get into werewolves finishing a new novella. Would love to read this.
by Laura K December 29th, 2007 at 6:28 pmI love shapeshifter stories, and almost any kind of paranormal story. The males are usually alpha males, and I love the strength and confidence they always have in thrmselves. Also, they are sensual and fiercely protective of their mates.
Rhonda :-)
by Rhonda Barnes December 29th, 2007 at 6:30 pmI haven’t tried that much elements since it is stillnew to me – shapeshifters, paranormals, etc. I like the romance and the erotica part though.
by Amelia December 29th, 2007 at 6:39 pmI love paranormal stories. I recently found your novels and have been devouring them. While it is always nice to see an alpha male, I love that the women in your stories are strong minded and strong willed. They hold their own with their men and the people around them, something I hope my daughters will grow up to be.
by Tina Stringfellow December 29th, 2007 at 6:55 pmI have purchased both Fire and Rain, and Ascension, I enjoyed the whole aspect of shifters, I love how you blended the concept of pack life with the human perspective. I don’t want to read books that are all about today’s issues, set in today’s societies, if I want that I can watch the news. Paranormals add that certain twist, they fullfill the need for something more.
by Kimberly Robertson December 29th, 2007 at 7:01 pmI love paranormals, especially vamps and weres. I love the animalistic quality the men have and how they lose all control when they find the one woman for them.
by Melissa December 29th, 2007 at 7:20 pmOOOHHHH, what a tough question!! I love so many things about these awsome books!! I love the BDSM, and the paranormal!! I am a new fan to the m/m/f genre! I love the strong men and what they can accomplish! I can only seem to find the men that need mothers and want to be dominated. I need to find me a good strong man who can be strong both in and out of bed
I seen a bunny here too! Aimee
by Aimee December 29th, 2007 at 7:29 pmSo many reasons why I love this series and can’t wait for this book. Love shifter and werewolf stories. And Bdsm are becoming a new favorite. Love your strong male alphas characters in this series as well as their ounterparts.
by Christine December 29th, 2007 at 7:30 pmWow Lauren – thanks!!
Love the paranormal bit, love the hot scenes, love shifters, love alpha males and strong females – gee, no wonder I love your books!!
kk
by keatonkat December 29th, 2007 at 7:38 pmLove the werewolf theme. I don’t care HOW you write it in the romance…just write it…and make it real steamy. They’re hot. Maybe I was a werewolf in a former life.
by Maria V December 29th, 2007 at 7:40 pmi love all of these elements. and dang who wouldn’t sexy shifters who mate for life and and have much strenght and longevity and are one woman men. whoowee who would love that lol.
by Pamk December 29th, 2007 at 7:50 pmI meant who wouldn’t love that lol. Trying to hurry and post before 10 est
by Pamk December 29th, 2007 at 7:51 pmOver the years, my reading tastes have changed, but shifters have always been high on my favorites list. In recent years, erotic romances have definitely been added to the list!
by penny December 29th, 2007 at 7:53 pmjust wanted to say congrats to the winners! and I can’t wait for this book :)
by Jessie December 29th, 2007 at 8:16 pmI like paranormal with ghosts and vampires.
by Jane December 30th, 2007 at 12:02 amCongrats to the winners! I love this series…the conflicts and intrique keep my interest and spark my appetite for more.
by Lisa T December 30th, 2007 at 4:48 amI have always been fascinated by wild animals and especially wolves. There’s just something about how they look out at you and seem to be so elusive. Those are the paranormal books i usually head for first-the ones with wolves in them.
by JOYE December 30th, 2007 at 10:21 amDang, I’m too late for the impromptu contest, but I’ll play in the other one, anyway.
I love all of those subgenres as long as big love is present. Make me tingle, baby!
Ash
by Ashlyn Chase December 30th, 2007 at 10:26 amI hate when I miss the changce to win great books! But I love the idea behind the contest…and promise to go hunting.
by Debi December 30th, 2007 at 11:16 amOk, too late for the contest, but I see the bunny!! And I loved the review of Sasha’s Wicked…can’t wait to see the review for Wild.
by Melissa December 30th, 2007 at 11:28 amI have tp admit that I love all fiction. From Barbara Cartland’s (they DO have their place) mushy romances to techie sci-fi (robots and wars, strange worlds and customs) to ‘tear you down and build you up’ BDSM (oh…that feels sooo good). They all have their place don’t you agree, ladies?
by Debi December 30th, 2007 at 11:34 amCongrats to all the winners!! I really love this whole series!! They were my first from you and I have been hooked ever since then!!LOL!!
by Stephanie December 30th, 2007 at 1:59 pmCongratulations to the winners. I love paranormals.
by Crystal B. December 30th, 2007 at 2:40 pmCongrats to winners!
Another bunny
by Stacie McClellan December 30th, 2007 at 9:38 pmFound the bunny but missed the contest
I cut my paranormal teeth on Christine Feehan…the strong bonding between mates is what is most appealing to me since it’s such a rarity in real life. I believe you and your husband are exceptions…probably because you both work on it.
I’ve expanded my reading arena and enjoy the listed elements…erotic romance with heavy love element, werewolves, and shifters. I like almost all of my reads on the hot and spicy side. BDSM is okay if it’s handled well. It can be a turn-on but not something I’d do. I read books with menage elements but the premise goes too much against my grain…even in the fantasy world. I’ve started eliminating them from my shopping list….Nancy
by Nancy Bristow December 30th, 2007 at 10:10 pmOh no! I missed this contest! It’s ok – I noticed there’s a bunny. I love romances, and paranormals – there’s something super sexy about a manbeast :-D.
by JSL December 31st, 2007 at 1:21 pmHappy New Year!
I see another Santa Bunz! So cute!!
by Karen H in NC December 31st, 2007 at 3:10 pmI love shifters!
by Marlene Breakfield December 31st, 2007 at 6:32 pmI love all paranormals. Congratulations to the winners. I know you’ll enjoy your prize.

by Tianna Xander December 31st, 2007 at 11:45 pmFound the bunny. Have a great new year!
by Sandy January 1st, 2008 at 9:27 amI never liked BDSM or paranormals but this year I came across books from each. And now I am addicted to these books.
Congrats to the winners.
by Heather January 1st, 2008 at 2:36 pmWell, I love shifters so when you add in other elements like the D/s it just makes it even better!
by Ellen January 2nd, 2008 at 10:14 amWell looks like I was too late for this one too. But happy New Year everyone.
by Kimmy L January 2nd, 2008 at 3:08 pmBest wishes for a fabulous New Year!
