Let’s see – Oh, this week I decided to go to Lori Foster’s Reader and Author get together in June. I’ve never been to Ohio (aren’t I lame?) and I wanted to go last year but couldn’t. Anya and I are going to go. I wish Megan could make it too but she’s going to BEA that weekend, sigh. Still, I’m hoping to stop by the EC warehouse and sign stock and meet people I haven’t met yet.
I ordered this gorgeous dress for RT and it came yesterday. Oh I love it so!
It fits perfectly but I’m gonna have to watch my calories from now until April because this dress will show it, LOL. I can wear it with the shoes I bought a few weekends back. I love it when my frivilous purchases all come together into something useful!

Oh and I don’t really watch American Idol but I’ve seen a few of the auditions that critics are complaining about – I just want to say that I have a really difficult time believing that these people are as clueless as we’re supposed to believe. In the first place, the audition process is like several days long. Totally clueless people who’ve never heard of American Idol are going to go to a stadium, wait all day to get a number, audition, and come back to wait in line for another 12 hours when they don’t know what American Idol is? Yes, it looks awful, but it always does – they’re always critical and every year people complain but um, hello, people wait in line for days to have it happen so where does the responsibility lie on the contestants? Sorry, I just get agitated with this kind of thing when people never take responsibility for themselves. It’s not like even people who rarely watch, or even don’t at all, haven’t heard about Simon’s commentary.
Ahh, I feel better now. Which is good because I have a lot of work to do.

One of my blog buddies mentioned on his site today that American Idol just featured a show that had people with disabilities on it during the audition phase and everyone was laughing at them.
(Since i don’t watch tv, i’m chewing on this totally in third person.) Television is becoming more and more disturbed, apparently. And you have to wonder at the families of those with mental disabilities that wouldn’t protect them from that type of ridicule. All in the name of entertainment. Huh.

Rhian – hey doll, nice to see you over here. By the way, I LOVE your art, it’s absolutely gorgeous.
And yes, one of the auditions I saw the guy definitely appeared to be at least mildly disabled. So what I wondered is how he navigated through the entire process (which has to be complicated) without help. But actually, from what I saw, they seemed to be nice to him. Like I said, I don’t watch the show and I only caught bits and pieces of it but I was left with the feeling that people were working it.

Lauren – glad you like my art! Got a story to tell you about when i picked up the first book of yours. It was when i had just started to read EC books and before i had my Palm and discovered the joys of ebooking. I was in Waldenbooks, trying to decide what to buy when a sales clerk came up and we started chatting about what we’d read and what was good. She pulled Triad off the shelf and said she was in the middle of it and it was great. I already had my selections so i didn’t pick it up that day. But the book stuck in my head… at that point I hadn’t read a menage story yet. Went back the very next day to get the book and it was gone. I just stood there looking at the shelf. I must have looked miserable because a (different) clerk came up to see if i needed help. I told her about Triad and whined that it had just been there… (I whine good, btw.) She confessed to having snuck it off the shelf and was reading it in the back. She asked me if i wanted to buy it. I said “Hell yeah, i want it!” Her turn to whine that she hadn’t finished it. I can’t say i displayed alot of sympathy for her. It was a store. She had a product. I wanted to buy it. Now. (I can look like Medusa when i want to.) Since that “fateful” day, i’ve gobbled up with delight everything you’d written. Grin! Oh and i suppose, if i worked in a bookstore, surrounded by all that temptation, i’d more than likely be raiding the racks too.

The whole American Idol obsession has completely bypassed me. I’m more intrigued by the huge lines of people I saw standing outside Soldier Field for days waiting to audition. These lines were incredible–I took pictures out the window on the way to work. And back home. And to work the next day. And back home. I mean, damn.

Seriously – her book had a tremendous impact on me (as i’m sure it has on many other women) and it was gratifying to get the opportunity to tell her so. Love the dress. I Half and half agree on Idol. I don’t watch it but my daughter does so since he room is next to me I will hear the singing and the comments at times. I just disagree w/ personal attacks as opposed to criticism on singing and why do they offer a forum for these horrendous singers. If they didn’t put they awful singers on the air at least some of these people wouldn’t show up. I agree that people should be expecting the possibility that they won’t be chosen but the sad part is some of these people really think they sing well and I feel the comments don’t need to be that cruel.
