CASCADIA WOLVES: TRI MATES is Out!

Tri Mates

The Third Book in the Cascadia Wolves Series is Out!!

Werewolves mate for life. For every wolf, there’s a mate out there. So Tracy Warden is thrilled when she discovers Nick Lawrence, the sexy Enforcer for another Pack, is her mate.

But sometimes lucky wolves get to double dip in the form of the extremely rare Tri-Mate-Bond. And so it is when Tracy discovers that her Anchor bond with National Pack Mediator Gabe Murphy is far more. Suddenly Tracy finds herself with two alpha males whose hunger for her never seems to wane. But their bliss is marred by the heavy hand of the werewolf mafia whose reach goes very high up indeed.

Money laundering, kidnapping, assault and other general mayhem can’t mar the intensity of their bond, but it sure can threaten their lives.

Whew! (And Contest)

I’ve just come from the EC Readerchat where we rocked the Cave all day long! i’m tired but happy, y’all make me smile.

Cascadia Wolves: Tri Mates releases tomorrow from Ellora’s Cave. I’m pretty excited about that. It’s my first published menage since Triad (I’ve got another coming January 3!) and I do so love the Warden family and Tracy is probably my favorite of them all. I hope you all enjoy meeting Tracy, Gabe and Nick. If you’d like to read an excerpt, head on over to my website! Or you can also check out the EC Readerchat files where three of them were uploaded today (THANK YOU TO RENEE, FABULOUS READER MOD!)

Because I’m still feeling festive (If not a wee bit tired,LOL) I’m going to give away an ARC of Tri Mates. Comment here and I’ll choose a winner by 7 pm my time/10 pm eastern. I know this is late in the day but giving stuff away is almost as fun as winning it!!

Monday Again

And it’s raining so much it was quite the challenge to get my middle kiddo to his preschool in the valley. Lots of standing water as the falling leaves have filled the drains. The news was saying it was taking up to two hours to get into Seattle from the suburbs because of standing water and accidents. My poor husband had to be in that this morning, I hope he’s at work by now. Man, I may get grumpy because my life is all about kid herding during the day but I don’t miss the commute.

The weekend went really fast but I did manage to write 9 thousand words so I’m not complaining at all! I’m in the home stretch with Threat of Darkness now, yay!

BTW, I’m going to be doing a LM day “Shifters and Menages” at the EC Board tomorrow http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ellorascavechat/ Come on over for great excerpts and the chance to win prizes.

I’ll also be doing a LM day at the Samhain Cafe on November 20 with the other authors who are releasing on and around the 21st - Me, Beth Williamson, Kai Anderson, Sylvia Violet, Diane Craver, Jenn Andrus and Sara Reinke. Don’t miss it! I’ll put more info up as we approach the day.

What did everyone do this weekend?

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

Just a short note, I’m at 49K words on Threat of Darkness! My kids are sugared up from birthday cake while their father and I are dead on our feet, LOL. Little vampires is what they are.

I finished a few books this last week - Murphy’s Law, Morrigan’s Cross and Grave Surprise. I’ll do mini reviews of them this coming week.

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!

Saturdaylicious

And thank goodness for it, I tell you! This week has been completely bizarre and emotionally trying so I’m glad to see it gone.

Today we went to the Rainforest Cafe to celebrate my oldest’s ninth birthday. His actual birthday is Monday but as we’re all around on the weekends, we did a bit of early celebrating. We even had the chocolate volcano with a sparkler.

This is a picture of me and my daughter after the ice cream, brownie, fudge extravaganza. I look slightly dazed because my kids were actually good in a restaurant for two hours, a new record.

Of course the day started with her hair in a headband that matched the dress but the headband was thrown off in disgust so many times I finally just gave up.

The boys loved the animatronic gorillas while the wee monster was less than thrilled. Still, it was a fun outing and the meltdown didn’t start until we got nearly home so I’m counting it as a big success!

Even better, I got back to Threat of Darkness during her naptime and got about 1500 words down, which was a relief. This last week I did two rounds of edits on two separate books and blurbed one (sometimes blurbing is so ridiculously hard!), did my excerpts, etc. It’s been busy but all of that has been good.

Had an 80s music gorgefest as I watched the VH1 Top 100 Songs of the 80s. I liked most of their choices but didn’t agree with their choice for number one. It wasn’t a song I hated or anything but it’s not one I’d say was most indicative of the decade. I did listen to Back in Black and several of my Go Go’s CDs this last week though, hee!

Worked on my website. Organized my genre page, updated the books pages with new reviews, etc. I’m off to make a Taking Chase page and get an excerpt up for that this week.

Is everyone having a good weekend?

Friday Babble

Oftentimes I read something at one of my favorite blogs and know I most certainly could not have said it better. So it is with this marvelous post at Booksquare.

To recap, because I know you’re really struggling with these concepts:

Fiction is not real.
Characters in fiction do and say things that their writers never would.

We fiction writers may lie for a living, but at least we admit it. Hey, better yet, we know the difference between fake (fiction!) and real.

If you’d like to read some fiction, might I suggest you begin with 1984 and Fahrenheit 451? Oh, wait. Those books might confuse you even more.

Beautiful.

Tod Goldberg, when not answering hate mail from douchebags writes this post about VH1’s 100 Best Songs of the 80’s Countdown (which I totally watched!).

On that note - the old Wham video for Wake Me Up Before You Go Go made me cringe. The dove shorts! Remember those? One half blue, the other white (or some combination thereof) - always made me think of that one episode of Star Trek with the half black half white faced people - Dude, Gene Roddenberry was so ahead of his time addressing racial issues in a totally in your face way that you can really only do in science fiction.

I can’t believe Livin on a Prayer was number one. Look, I’m not a Bon Jovi hater, I listened to that damned record enough times (and yes, I said record) but seriously, of all the songs on that countdown, it was not the best or most indicative of the 80’s. I was glad to see Shook Me All Night Long on the list and um, is it just me or did the guy who claimed to be Thomas Dolby just not look like Thomas Dolby at all? And the chicks from bannarama were still really hot! Belinda Carlisle? Um, honey step away from the botox! And yes, we KNOW Jane Wiedlin is a professional, or claims to be a professional dominatrix. If it’s such a “secret” life, why do I know about it?

And I threw up double devil horns on the Journey songs. Not that I consider them rock at all, but I love them, even today, LOL.

Featured!

I keep forgetting to say that I’m a Featured Author this month at TRS Blue! They’ve got an interview up and other linky stuff.

I just updated my website with some new reviews - Tri Mates, Giving Chase, Vengeance Due; and added Tri Mates to my bookshelf page, put up the new blurbs for Thrice United and Sword and Crown along with the new release date for Thrice United. A nice, fruitful afternoon.

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen Totally Random and Most Likely Bizarre Things about Lauren Dane

1. I love cake. But not more than I love cupcakes. Cupcakes are like a mini birthday party, with buttercream frosting. And other than adding Clive Owen with frosting, there’s not much else I love in the world more (okay, other than my husband and my kids)

2. I love people that others tend to think are weird or odd.

3. I want to be a rollergirl. Alas, I am too damned old and these young chicks would kick my ass. Sigh.

4. Other than Judy Blume’s, Forever, I didn’t really read romance novels until I was in my early thirties. It was Jenny Crusie’s, Welcome To Temptation that really sold me on the idea that a romance could be sexy, funny and intelligent. Since then I’ve found that to be true with many other authors as well.

5. I hesitated in reading SEP’s, Ain’t She Sweet for over a year. I kept thinking, “why would I want to read about this woman?” When I finally gave in I became a SEP fangirl on the spot. I absolutely love how she takes someone unlikeable like Sugar Beth and makes you root for her by the end.

6. I was pregnant with my daughter when I finally read my first Nora Roberts book. It was actually her Naked in Death/JD Robb book. I then went out and devoured every single book in the series and I’ve done so as each new one comes out. I also started reading her Nora books. My first one was “Carnal Innocence” and it remains one of my favorites.

7. When I started writing, I had no idea that the things I do are supposedly big no no items. I’m glad I didn’t know that because they seem to be the things readers like the most.

8. I’m incredibly sentimental about things and I cry when reading and at the movies all the time.

9. I am a ridiculously huge Pearl Jam fan. I absolutely love them, love the songwriting, love the way they treat their fans (with one notable exception this summer, grr)

10. I curse too much.

11. I am blunt. I’ve tried not to be, but it doesn’t work. Many people have a problem with that. However, you’ll always know where you stand with me.

12. I’ve been with my husband since we were both 18. Twenty years of togetherness and 18 years of marriage last month and still he’s my best friend and biggest supporter.

13. I talk to the television. Drives my husband crazy and he won’t watch any legal shows with me because I mutter and complain the whole time
