Hmm...suppose Sci Fi could be for any time period using fictitious science and technology as a main part of the story. Futuristic would, I think, mean a storyline based typically in a time yet to come...can be in space or on Earth and can be technologically advanced or not (for example, technology might get wiped out due to lack of energy as we know it).
